Single and return ticket terms and conditions

General Terms and Conditions

An Enkele reis (single ticket) and a Retour (return ticket) can refer to multiple separate transport agreements between you and the carriers in question. Insofar as trans port is provided by NS Reizigers B.V. (hereinafter `NS'), the general terms and conditions for the transport of passengers and hand luggage of Nederlandse Spoorwegen (AVRNS) are applicable. Travel using other carriers shall be subject to the general terms and conditions of the carrier in question. For further information about carriers and terms and conditions, see www.ns.nl/voor waarden. The AVRNS can also be obtained from: +31 (0)900 2021163 ( 0.10/min). The following product terms and conditions are also applicable to single tickets and return tickets. Insofar as these product terms and conditions contain provisions that differ from or are supplementary to the AVRNS, the product terms and conditions shall take precedence.

Valid tickets

If you travel without a valid ticket, you will be liable to pay the fare including

1.1 Single tickets and return tickets include: Enkele reis [single], Dagretour [day return], Weekendretour [weekend return], 5Retourkaart [5return ticket], children's tickets. 1.2 Travel cards include: Dagkaart [travel card], 5Dagkaart [5day travel card], Railrunnerkaartje [Railrunner ticket], Dagkaart hond [dog travel card], Dagkaart fiets [bicycle travel card] and Keuzedag 60+ [over 60s offpeak ticket]. 1.3 `NS' refers to NS Reizigers B.V.

2.3 The Railrunnerkaartje is valid on the same route and in the same class as that shown on the valid ticket held by the accompanying adult. If the accompanying adult is travelling on a Weekendretour, you must buy two Railrunner kaartjes or a Railrunnerweekend [Railrunner weekend] for the child. If a supplement is applied for an international train, that same supplement applies to the Railrunnerkaartje.

Handing in and refund

Handing in before the initial day of validity: 3.1 A refund will be paid on dated single tickets, return tickets and travel cards that are handed in before the first day on which they are valid, with the exception of the Keuzedag 60+. 3.2 A refund will be paid on undated single tickets, return tickets and travel cards and wholly unused 5Retourkaarts and 5Dagkaarts until the end of their validity period, with the exception of the Keuzedag 60+. You may make a claim for a refund until one year

2. Validity

2.1 Single tickets and return tickets are valid on the route stated. 2.2 Travel cards entitle the user to unlimited travel on the day stated on the ticket until 04.00 of the following day on all national trains that appear in the `Acceptatie NSvervoerbewijzen' [acceptance of NS tickets] list on www.ns.nl/voorwaarden for which it is specified that travel cards are valid.

In this case, the price of the replacement ticket will be refunded if the original ticket is handed in to NS after it is found. 3.6 Refunds will not be paid on Keuzedag 60+ tickets.

3.7 Refunds will not be paid on single tickets and return tickets that are exclusively valid on other carriers' routes, irrespective of whether the single ticket or return ticket was purchased at an NS sales outlet. Information about which carriers operate on which route can be obtained by planning a specific journey using the NS Journey Planner. 5. OV-chipkaart

5.1 Additional productspecific terms and conditions may be applicable for passengers with electronic tickets as defined in these terms and conditions. 5.2 If an OVchipkaart [public transport smart card] is used, journey details will be recorded before, during and after the journey in order to check that the products are being used legitimately. In the case of a dispute or the exercising by a passenger of any right, the electronic records relating to the journey taken will be used as evidence unless evidence to the contrary is provided by you. 5.3 The data will be retained for as long as is necessary or for as long as there is a legal requirement to do so. All prices and terms and conditions shall apply subject to changes and any misprints or printing errors.

4. Lost, damaged or stolen tickets

Subject to the provisions of Section 3, refunds will not be paid on tickets that were otherwise purchased to replace lost, damaged or stolen single tickets, return tickets or travel cards.
