A range of linkage kits providing mechanical interfaces between Satchwell linear actuators and OEM valves, and between OEM linear actuators and Satchwell 2 and 3 port valves.

SATCHWELL ACTUATORS TO LANDIS & STAEFA (VVF52) AND HONEYWELL (V5011A) VALVES (FIG.1) Note: For Satchwell standard frame actuators only (ALM1601, ALX1201, ALE1302, ALi1576 and ALi1577). 1. Place the linkage kit bush 'A' over the valve spindle and secure with the two screws 'B'. 2. Position the actuator mounting bracket on the bush, ensuring that the four mounting bracket bolt holes align with the four bush bolt holes, and that the actuator is correctly positioned to give clear access for conduit entry and wiring. Secure the actuator mounting bracket to the bush using the four 3/8" bolts 'C'. 3. Ensure the 3/8" locknut 'E' is fitted to the linkage kit adaptor 'D' and screw the adaptor fully into the actuator coupling 'F'. Tighten the locknut against the adaptor. 4. Lift the valve spindle into the adaptor 'D', and lock using the two screws 'G'. Use the manual operator to position coupling 'F' to the required extension, as necessary, particularly when assembling to small size valves, but avoid over-extending or retracting actuator lead screw 'H' to prevent malfunction or damage. 5. If subsequently removing the actuator to service valve gland, for example, it is IMPORTANT to isolate power supply to controller or actuator or otherwise select the 'Manual' position on the manual operator push button. This will avoid malfunction or damage due to actuator lead screw 'H' being accidentally driven beyond its normal stroke limits. 6. Check actuator performance in accordance with relevant data sheet.

FITTING INSTRUCTIONS

GENERAL WARNING STEAM OR HOT WATER HAZARD. BEFORE REMOVING ACTUATOR FROM VALVE OR OPENING VALVE, ENSURE THAT THE VALVE CONTROL MEDIUM IS ISOLATED AND RELIEVE THE PRESSURE. WORK SHOULD ONLY BE CARRIED OUT BY A COMPETENT ENGINEER. 1. Check that the linkage kit is correct and complete. 2. Check the mounting location and position. Actuators must be accessible, reasonably dry and dust free. Ambient temperature limits must be observed. See relevant actuator data sheets. 3. Proceed to the fitting instructions for the appropriate linkage kit. Notes: Actuators ALM1601, ALX1201, ALE1302 and the ALi1376 and1377 actuators are supplied with a hexagonal adaptor fitted, for direct coupling to Satchwell valves with a ¼" diameter spindle. When connecting any of these actuators to other manufacturer's valves, loosen the associated locknut, then remove and discard the adaptor and the locknut. The linkage kits within an actuator or valve 'family' are very similar and differ only in for example, the length or width of the adaptor. To avoid unnecessary duplication of information, only one set of fitting instructions for each 'family' of valve or actuator (or even similar families) is provided, together with an example illustration.

SATCHWELL ACTUATORS TO HYMATIC VALVES (FIG.2) Note: For Satchwell standard frame actuators only (ALM1601, ALX1201, ALE1302, ALi1576 and ALi1577). 1. Remove the lugnut 'F' from the valve. Note: Lugnut 'F' should be supplied with the valve. 2. Connect the lower and upper mounting plates 'A' and 'B' together using the four hexagonal studs 'C' and eight M12 nuts 'D' (Note that the upper mounting plate has the smaller middle hole and four actuator mounting bracket holes). Place this assembly over the valve spindle, fit the spacer 'E' and screw the lugnut 'F' on to the valve spindle. Do not overtighten. 3. Position the actuator mounting bracket on top of the upper mounting plate, ensuring that the actuator is correctly positioned to give clear access for conduit entry and wiring. Secure the actuator mounting bracket to the mounting plate using the four 3/8" bolts 'G'. 4. Ensure the 3/8" locknut 'J' is fitted to the linkage kit adaptor 'H' and screw the adaptor fully into the actuator coupling 'K'. Tighten the locknut against the adaptor. 5. Screw the smaller " locknut 'L' fully on to the valve spindle. Lift the valve spindle and screw into the adaptor 'H', using the manual operator to position coupling 'K' to required extension, as necessary, particularly when assembling to small size valves, but avoid over-extending or retracting actuator lead screw to prevent malfunction or damage. Tighten the locknut against the adaptor. Note: The locknut 'L' should be supplied with the valve. 6. If subsequently removing the actuator to service valve gland, for example, it is IMPORTANT to isolate power supply to controller or actuator or otherwise select the 'Manual' position on the manual operator push button. This will avoid malfunction or damage due to actuator lead screw being accidentally driven beyond its normal stroke limits. 7. Check actuator performance in accordance with the relevant data sheet.

SATCHWELL ACTUATORS TO SIEBE VALVES (FIG.3) Note: LNKIN01 fits the Satchwell standard frame actuators (ALM1601, ALX1201, ALE1302, ALi1576 and ALi1577); LNKIN02 fits the Satchwell short frame actuators (ALX1251, ALE1352, ALi1676 and ALi1677). 1. Remove the lugnut from the valve. 2. Screw the linkage kit bush 'A' fully on to the valve; position the actuator mounting bracket over the bush, ensuring that the actuator is correctly positioned to give clear access for conduit entry and wiring. Secure the actuator mounting bracket to the bush using the lugnut 'B'. Do not overtighten. 3. Ensure the locknut 'E' is fitted to the linkage kit adaptor 'D' and screw the adaptor fully into the actuator coupling 'F'. Tighten the locknut against the adaptor. 4. Screw the locknut 'C' fully on to the valve spindle. Lift the valve spindle and screw into the adaptor 'D', using the manual operator to position coupling 'F' to required extension, as necessary, particularly when assembling to small size valves, but avoid over-extending or retracting actuator lead screw to prevent malfunction or damage. Tighten the locknut against the adaptor. 5. LANDIS & STAEFA SKD62 ACTUATORS TO SATCHWELL VALVES (FIG.4) WARNING - THIS IS A POWER FAIL RETURN ACTUATOR. KEEP CLEAR OF ALL MOVING PARTS WHEN POWER IS REMOVED. ONLY SWITCH OFF POWER IF POWER FAIL RETURN IS REQUIRED. 1. Remove the lugnut from the valve. 2. Screw the linkage kit collar 'A' fully on to the valve; position the actuator mounting bracket over the collar, ensuring that the actuator is correctly positioned to give clear access for conduit entry and wiring. Secure the actuator mounting bracket to the collar using the two hexagonal screws 'B'. 3. Lift the valve spindle and screw on to it the linkage kit locknut 'E' and the connector 'F'. Note: When fitting Linkage Kits LNKLS51 and LNKLS52, first fit locknut 'C' then adaptor 'D' on to the valve spindle. 4. Lift the adaptor and valve spindle and push firmly upwards into the adaptor coupling, and secure with the two hexagonal screws. Use the manual operator to position the actuator coupling to the required extension, as necessary, particularly when assembling to small size valves, but avoid over-extending or retracting actuator to prevent malfunction or damage. 5. When satisfied that the linkage is correctly positioned, tighten the locknut 'E' (and 'C' if applicable).

CONTROLLI MVL56, MVL56A/C ACTUATORS TO SATCHWELL VALVES (FIG.5) WARNING - THIS IS A POWER FAIL RETURN ACTUATOR. KEEP CLEAR OF ALL MOVING PARTS WHEN POWER IS REMOVED. ONLY SWITCH OFF POWER IF POWER FAIL RETURN IS REQUIRED. 1. Remove the lugnut 'B' from the valve. Note: Lugnut 'B' should be supplied with the valve. 2. Place the linkage kit bush 'A' fully on to the valve; position the actuator mounting bracket over the bush, ensuring that the actuator is correctly positioned to give clear access for conduit entry and wiring. Secure the actuator mounting bracket to the bush using the lugnut 'B'. Do not overtighten. 3. Screw the linkage kit locknut 'C' on to the valve spindle.Screw the linkage kit adaptor 'D' fully into the actuator coupling 'E'. 4. Lift the valve spindle and screw it into the adaptor. Use the manual operator to position the actuator coupling to the required extension, as necessary, particularly when assembling to small size valves, but avoid over-extending or retracting the actuator lead screw to prevent malfunction or damage. 5. When satisfied that the adaptor is correctly positioned, tighten the locknut against the adaptor.
