Northern Territory Cattlemen's Association Annual Conference, AGM and Dinner - March 25 and 26, 2010

Partnership Proposal

The Northern Territory Cattlemen's Association

The cattle industry is the third largest GDP earner in the NT and successfully manages in excess of two million cattle, turning off over 550,000 animals, across live export and slaughter for local and overseas markets. By area, employment and economic contribution, the pastoral industry is the dominant land-based industry in the NT, with a focus on long-term, sustainable production from more than 620,000 km² and 44% of the landmass. The NT Cattlemen's Association was established to advance and protect the interests of cattle producers in the Northern Territory and we remain wholly committed to that task. Over the 26-year history of the Association we have been closely involved in lobbying for and representing the interests of the Pastoral Industry. The NTCA is a driving force for continual improvement, adaptation and the ongoing viability of our industry.

The Event

The Conference:

The NTCA Annual Conference is highly anticipated by all members of the cattle industry and is the foremost annual beef industry event in Northern Australia. The 2009 conference exceeded all expectations and was roundly judged as the best for a number of years. In 2010, the NTCA conference will be held on Friday, March 26, and is expected to attract more than 400 people from the Northern Territory, Australia and overseas. The conference will cover cutting edge industry issues, markets and emerging opportunities in Asia, while exploring the role of future leaders and succession in the rural sector.

The Annual General Meeting:

The NTCA Annual General Meeting will be held on the afternoon of Thursday, March 25, and is attended by NTCA members only . This session comprises formal reports from the President and Executive Director, as well as the passing of motions and voting in of new representatives. The AGM is followed by the traditional Welcome Drinks, which is the official `kick off' event for the conference and allows industry members, representatives and sponsors to meet properly for the first time during the event series.

The Ladies Luncheon:

The Ladies Luncheon will be held on Thursday, March 25, and will precede the AGM. This luncheon is an increasingly popular event and is expected to attract more than 70 industry women. The event is used as an opportunity for outback women to meet up in a social atmosphere as well as hear from interesting speakers on topics not covered in the conference itself. There are sponsorship opportunities available at the Ladies Luncheon that are separate to the conference. (For details see page 10)

The Annual Dinner:

The Annual NTCA Gala Dinner is the grand finale of the series of events and is often the most popular occasion for industry members. The NTCA goes to great lengths to ensure that the evening goes off with a bang! The occasion also provides a great opportunity for sponsors to meet members in a less formal and much more relaxed environment. In 2010, we are expecting between 400 and 500 guests to attend the Gala Dinner.

Attendees

The NTCA conference and dinner are expected to attract upwards of 400 people over the two days of the event. Attendees will consist of Northern Territory pastoralists, industry representatives, government agencies, politicians and other interested parties who travel from local areas, interstate and internationally. In this industry more than others, the chance to spend time with people who are so often inaccessible should be seen as a tremendous business and networking opportunity. Our partners at previous NTCA conferences can attest to the fact that this contact with current and potential clients is an invaluable business tool.

Marketing and promotion:

The NTCA has engaged the services of public relations firm Michels Warren Munday to assist with communication and media management of its conferences for the past two years, and will be doing so again in 2010. Marketing focus is largely directed at securing widespread, credible media coverage of the conference across its publicity lifespan (pre-promotion/during the event/follow ups). This includes generating news angles on issues that will be raised during presentations as well as general promotion of the event. Supporting these efforts is an industry-based campaign directed at generating attendance at the conference. On-line resources are utilised to meet this end, with the NTCA's website acting as the main portal for conference information. Paid advertising is used as a tool but is reserved for specific strategic goals.

Media Exposure

News coverage is achieved across all mediums print, radio, television and on-line. In previous years, the conference has achieved national exposure, drawing attention to the work of our producers, supporting network and the issues that impact on our industry. In 2009, press coverage alone dramatically exceeded previous years and included significant support from the national rural newspaper network. Combined with ABC radio and television coverage, which included broadcasts from the event by Landline and the Country Hour, the conference attracted unprecedented media attention. In 2010, we plan to build on the relationships formed over the past year as the NTCA continues to raise its national media profile.

Partnership Opportunities Conference & Dinner

A partnership with the NTCA provides extensive and ongoing benefits to those who choose to take part. Perhaps one of the most valuable opportunities a sponsor receives from their investment in the conference is the contact with existing and potential clients who are often inaccessible due to their remoteness. We have found that attendees are very observant at this event, and while they certainly notice who the sponsors are, they often comment on who is not represented. Sponsorship levels are: Level 1 $11,000 plus: The highest bracket of sponsorship, bringing with it the most prominent positioning and exposure available. The package also includes access to any special opportunities and promotional offers that arise during the conference. This level is traditionally sought by our most loyal supporters and those wishing to establish long-term, lasting relationships with the industry. Level 2 $8000: A good mid-range package that provides quality, second tier exposure opportunities for those not quite ready to step up into the highest partnership bracket. Level 3 $5000: This level is structured for individuals and companies specifically interested in a trade booth at the conference. Level 4 $2000: An entry level package ideally suited to companies or individuals looking to explore the potential of a partnership with the industry, or attend the conference for the first time.

Partnership Opportunities Ladies Luncheon

In 2010 we have decided to introduce some sponsorship opportunities for those organisations who may not be specifically related to the cattle industry, but who are major supporters of rural women and the astonishing contribution they make to life in the outback.
