Make a Gumnut Baby hat

Knit your baby or toddler one of these gorgeous Snugglepot and Cuddlepie Gumnut Baby hats for Australia Day.

K2tog to end. P1 row. K2tog till 1 st remains. K1. K2tog to end. P1 row, K1 row, K1 row. (8sts remaining). Rep pattern rows 3 times more. Making up Leave long end and thread yarn through remaining sts. Sew seam with back stitch (matching ridges), turn back front to make contrasting edge and slip stitch in place. Attach strap. Fasten off. Straps for gumnut baby hat Using 3.25 needles cast on 75 sts. K2 rows. Cast off. Attach to hat. Gumnuts (6) Using 3mm hook make 6 chain. Join with slip stitch. Double crochet in each chain for two rounds, then 1 double crochet in each space for 1.5cm. Fasten off. Join on dark yarn and double crochet 2 rounds. Fasten off. Leave long end and thread yarn around top. Fill with stuffing. Draw up tight and fasten off. Chain for gumnuts Using 3mm hook make 35 chain. Fasten off. Fold chain not quite in half. Make a loop at top. Insert hook where they cross and make 8 chain. Fasten off. You should have three chains of uneven length. Attach gumnuts at the bottom to each of the chains. Repeat pattern [K1 row, P1 row, K1 row, K1 row] three times. *K2tog, K6 (rep from * to last 2 sts). K2. P1 row, K1 row, K1 row. Repeat pattern rows twice. *K2tog, K4 (rep from * to last 4 sts). K4. P1 row, K1 row, K1 row. Repeat pattern rows twice. *K3, K2tog (rep from * to end). P1 row, K1 row, K1 row. *K2tog, K3 (rep from * to end). P1 row, K1 row, K1 row. K1, *K2tog, K3 (rep from * to end).
