A. PRACTICUMS & SKILL VALIDATIONS Annual Competency for the following: Arterial Blood gases 6 minute walk test Methacholine challenge

Perform daily calibrations and adjust or correct to match the control standards. Perform Quality Control testing to determine the accuracy and precision of the equipment against a known standard. Perform pulmonary function testing to include patient instruction, demonstration and verbalize minimum spirometry standards:

FVC Long volumes DLco Methacholine Challenge Testing, exercise testing, 6 minute walk Perform oximetry testing and verbalize instances that may affect accuracy and interfere with light transmission. Arterial blood gases: Demonstrate correct technique contraindications Demonstrate correct technique for Lidocaine injection Perform CPAP mask fittings, indications, fitting and assembly of equipment Assist with bronchoscopy procedures to include patient assessment, hazards and complications, equipment and med preparations, video recording and equipment sterilization Stock bronchoscopy cart after each procedure and maintain emergency availability.
