This guide is intended to provide a quick reminder of the basic operations in RedDot. You can access RedDot through https://red.otc.edu. To add content to a page: 1. In the topleft corner, click the Open Foundation Red Dot. 2. In the page window, click the Add/Remove/Reorder body components Red Dot. 3. In the Edit Element Link dialog box, click Create and Connect Page. 4. In the List of Content Classes, click the TextH3 (Main) Heading and Paragraph link. 5. Enter your headline, and then click OK. Your headline will appear in the page window, and an Edit this text Red Dot will appear.

To add paragraph content: 1. Click the Edit this text Red Dot. 2. In the text editor box, enter the information you would like to display on the page. 3. Click OK. To create a twocolumn list: 1. In the topleft corner, click the Open Foundation Red Dot. 2. In the page window, click the Add/Remove/Reorder body components Red Dot. 3. In the Edit Element Link dialog box, click Create and Connect Page. 4. In the List of Content Classes dialog box, click Links ­ Small Bulleted Link List (Two Col umns). 5. Enter your headline in the text box, and then click OK.

To create links to external sites in a list: 1. In the list column, click the Add/Remove/Reorder list items Red Dot. 2. 3. 4. 5. In the Edit Link Element dialog box, click the Add URL link. In the Add URL dialog box, type the name of the link. In the URL text box, type the URL or copy and paste the URL into the box. Click OK.

To link to existing pages: 1. Click the appropriate Red Dot. 2. In the Edit Link Element dialog box, click the Connect to Existing Page link. 3. In the Page Search dialog box, type the name of the existing page. 4. Click Start in the bottomright corner. 5. In the results list, click the page or section you would like to use.

To create a new page from a list: 1. In the list column, click the Add/Remove/Reorder list items Red Dot. 2. In the Edit Link Element dialog box, click Create and Connect Page. 3. In the Edit (Page Title) text box, type the title of the page you are creating. 4. Click OK.

To add a large, onecolumn bulleted list: 1. In the topleft corner, click the Open Foundation Red Dot. 2. In the page window, click the Add/Remove/Reorder body components Red Dot. 3. In the Edit Link Element dialog box, click Create and Connect Page. 4. In the List of Content Classes dialog box, click Links ­ Large Bulleted Link List (One Column). 5. In the Headline text box, type the title of the section, and then click OK. 6. Click the Add/Remove/Reorder list items Red Dot. 7. In the Edit Link Element, click Create and Connect Page. 8. In the List of Content Classes, click Foundation ­ Left Image Page. 9. In the Headline (Page Title) text box, type the name of the new page. 10. Click OK. NOTE: Large, bulleted lists are best used when you plan to add a description to the bullet point. Typically, you will use these lists in a onecolumn format. To add a file download list for .pdf, .doc, .ppt, and other files: 1. In the topleft corner, click the Open Foundation Red Dot. 2. In the page window, click the Add/Remove/Reorder body components Red Dot. 3. In the Edit Link Element dialog box, click Create and Connect Page. 4. In the List of Content Classes dialog box, click Links ­ File Download List.

In the Headline text box, type the title of the section, and then click OK. Click the Add/Remove/Reorder download items Red Dot. In the Edit Link Element dialog box, click Create and Connect Page. In the headline (title) of the download item text box, type the name of the file. Click OK.

To add the file to the download list item: 1. Under the list item title, click the Choose file red dot.

2. In the Media Asset Management dialog box, click Switch Folders.

3. Choose the appropriate folder from the list, and then click Select asset from local file system.

4. Click the Browse button, and then navigate to and select the file. 5. Click OK. NOTE: If you are adding an existing document from your folder, then select that document and click OK.

To add the file description to a download list item: 1. Under the list item title, click the Choose file red dot.

2. In the Edit Element Description text box, type the description for the file. 3. Click OK.

Before adding a new section or page to the site, search the system to see if another department has already added the information. To search for pages: 1. In the left navigation menu, click Search. 2. In the Content text box, type the information you are trying to find. For example, Learning Resource Center. 3. Click Start. 4. If a Search Results list appears, navigate through the list to see if the information was previously created.

To preview a page in Search Results: 1. Click the preview icon to the far right of the result.

Sometimes, you may add a page or list that you want to remove. Since deleting a page is permanent, you should disconnect it just in case you change your mind or need the page in the future. To disconnect a page: 1. Click the red dot next to the content you would like to section you want to edit. 2. Click the Add/Remove/Reorder red dot next to the appropriate section. 3. In the Edit Link Element dialog box, click Disconnect Page from List.

4. In the Disconnect Pages from List dialog box, check the checkboxes next to the pages you want disconnected. 5. Click OK. You may want to add a description to a page. Descriptions are added at the Foundation level. To add a description to a page: 1. In the topleft corner, click the Open Foundation red dot. 2. In the page window, click the Edit Teaser Text red dot.

3. In the Optional Teaser text box, type a short description of the page. 4. Click OK. NOTE: Your description should be no more than 2 to 3 sentences long.

After you have finished adding or making changes/edits to pages in the system, you must submit your tasks in order for the Web Services department to make them accessible on the live website. To submit your tasks: 1. In the left navigation menu, click Tasks.

2. In the Select Tasks dialog box, click the # Edit Pages link.

3. In the Search Results for: Pages saved as draft dialog box, check all pages you would like to submit. 4. Click the Submit Selected Pages to Workflow button. NOTE: If you want to submit all of the tasks, check the Select all entries of this results page checkbox located at the bottom of the page. If you have more than displayed on the first page, click the Next page link.
