1st VP EVENT - February
SPECIAL NEWCOMERS' THREE WAY EVENT With a nod to the busy Sundance Film Festival season, we are combining the FIRST VP EVENT, SUPPER CLUB and LUNCH & LEISURE in January. We are limited to 35 attendees, so sign up quickly. This event will begin at Park City Golf Course where we will do some "off trail" snowshoeing. Please carpool as parking will be tight. Then, after a good work out, we will meet back at Carolyn's home for hot chocolate and other libations. And that's not all...we will be having chili, soup and salad too. Please call Carolyn for food assignments. As always, BYOB. Don't miss this one as it promises to be a good time had by all! Date: Sat, Jan 14

Low Carbon Diet We agree that this is not the kind of diet most of us have in mind right after the holidays, but then again, maybe we should. Brian Kahn, our speaker, will inspire us with the Park City Municipal Corporation's Low Carbon Diet Program. This program is a city-sponsored initiative that involves education, outreach and action on the part of citizens to reduce our carbon footprint and eventually Save Our Snow! In addition, those willing to postpone the post-holiday diet for one more meal will venture out to lunch afterward at The Lift Grill at Jupiter Bowl. Date: Time: Wed, Jan 11 10:00 am Business Meeting & Presentation Immediately Following Lunch at Lift Grill (optional) Park City Community Church Bear Hollow Drive (Hwy 224 & Park City Nursery)

2nd Annual Fashion Swap Party Little used clothes shouldn't die, they should find new life with a proud new owner. Sip, Snack and Swap: If you have not been to a Fashion Swap, then you are missing the boat! Many of us accumulate clothing and accessories that we wear infrequently and sometimes not at all. Most of them still look brand new and others still have the tags on. They just sit in our closets, drawers and storage boxes, even as we keep telling ourselves we will wear them again eventually. Get rid of these clothes you don't wear or love AND get new clothes for free what's not to like? Join us as we sip cocktails, chow down on hearty soup and trade gently used clothes. This is a perfect excuse to clean out your closet and to get some new clothes. The best part is that these new pieces won't cost you a dime! * As they say, "one fashionista's trash is another fashionista's treasure". Items to exchange: Style clothes, shoes, boots, purses, jewelry, scarfs and other accessories. Fashion Swap Rules: Bring up-to-date items Wash and press all items Items should be either unworn or gently worn --- "like new" condition Bring items on hangers Be on time 6:00 pm If someone else chooses an item you want, you can bargain with them individually Everyone will be allowed to select the same number of items on each round Any items that do not find a new home (or that you do not want returned) will be donated to the Christian Center All items need to be labeled with the size; if mfg. label is not attached, please label with a piece of masking tape You will be able to try on the clothing We are guessing that there will be a variety of sizes *Very Important: It is your obligation to find an item(s) that you want to take home with you. We do not guarantee you will take home any item(s) or that any item(s) selected will be of equal value to the item(s) that you brought. Menu: The menu will include fabulous chili with accompaniments and delicious snacks will be provided. What to Bring: Bring your exchange items and a beverage of choice (BYOB). Also, if you like, bring an appetizer to share (welcome but not required). Date: Time: Place: Wed, Jan 18 6:00 pm Please Be On Time Home of Mare Piper 2540 West View Trail Park City Jane Lindeman [email protected] 312-953-9998

BRIDGE CLUB
Newcomers' offers three options for playing bridge. Each group caters to different preferences and abilities; most ladies play in more than one group. We use Chicago scoring for all three and we play in members' homes. Fun Bridge is for beginners who have had experience and/or lessons, or who played years ago and would like to get plugged into the "new stuff." It is not for someone who has never played. Fun Bridge meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays each month from 12:30 to approximately 3:30. For more information or to sign up, call Jane Peterson (604-0359). Party Bridge is for intermediate players who prefer a relaxed atmosphere, but we do use the bidding boxes. Party Bridge meets the first Tuesday of every month. For more information or to sign up, call Maggie Wolin (640-9186). Duplicate Bridge is for intermediate and advanced players who like the challenge of competing. We use the traditional duplicate format with bidding boxes, boards and duplicate scoring sheets. Duplicate Bridge meets the third Tuesday of every month. For more information or to sign up, call Maggie Wolin (640-9186)

SPECIAL EVENTS Mark Your Calendar!
We are pleased to announce that we will be doing the following events with the Park City Mountain Sports Club! Monday, Feb 6 Hardware Ranch This trip will include a bus trip from Smith's to Hardware Ranch (1 ½ to 2 hrs. each way) where the bus will drop us off at the Visitor Center. Then, we will board horse-drawn sleighs to ride through the elk herd. We will have someone giving information about the elks and the ranch. We will leave Smith's at 11:15am and spend about two hours at the ranch before returning. Saturday, Mar 24 Antelope This trip will include a bus trip from Smith's to Antelope Island (about 1 ½ hrs. each way) taking us first to the Visitor Center. Then, we will travel to the other end of the island to Fielding Garr Ranch. We hope to see antelope, a free-roaming herd of 500 bison, mule deer, pronghorn antelope and big horn sheep that all share the rangelands. We will leave Smith's at 12:00pm and spend about two hours on Antelope Island before returning. For more information... For both of these events, we will be using Utah Trailways and we are anticipating that cost will be less than $20 per person. To RSVP or for more information, please send an email to Kitty Imdahl at [email protected] and put "Special Event" in the subject line.
