Director of Curriculum and Instruction

Job Description: The Director of Curriculum and Instruction will oversee every facet of the school's operation that directly impacts student learning. This will include monitoring of classroom instruction, management of all internal and external assessment data, and curriculum development for all subject areas. The Director of Curriculum and Instruction will be responsible for direct oversight of the instructional staff. The Director of Curriculum and Instruction reports to the School Director. Responsibilities: Communicate regularly with the School Director concerning student achievement, curriculum development, professional development, staff evaluations, and the budgetary needs for each. Serve as instruction leader with oversight of curriculum development and student assessment (internal and external). Implement effective internal assessment systems to monitor academic progress of students throughout the year. Implement and oversee systems for data analysis of all internal and external assessments. Ensure curriculum alignment with standards for the state of Arizona. Seek and share curriculum practices from other schools, and professional journals. Coordinate teacher recruitment and assist School Director in hiring process for all instructional staff. Plan and implement summer staff orientation. Attend teacher meetings, support teachers, and facilitate positive faculty dynamics. Facilitate regular school-wide staff meetings. Articulate and model the school's values to students, families, staff and the community. Oversee the management of all student academic records. Collaborate with Dean of Student and Family Affairs concerning student discipline and initiatives. Collaborate with School Director concerning student achievement and student assessment. Collaborate with School Director concerning all teaching staff. A capacity to motivate and lead instructional staff in order to yield the highest academic performance possible from all students. Ability to give constructive feedback to facilitate student growth and academic achievement. Openness to receive feedback on issues that will facilitate growth and achievement of both students and faculty. Experience with educating/mentoring urban youth. At least three (3) years of teaching experience.
