FACULTY POSITIONS AVAILABLE DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS, RENMIN UNIVERSITY OF CHINA

The Department of Physics at Renmin University of China in Beijing invites applications for tenured and tenure-track faculty positions in the areas of field theory, astrophysics and cosmology, condensed matter physics, atomic, molecular and optical physics, quantum information, computational physics, biophysics, and materials physics. Postdoctoral positions are also available in the fields of condensed matter physics, computational physics, quantum information, materials physics, and related areas. We have openings for 15 tenured and tenure-track faculty members and 6 postdoctoral fellows. Applications will be reviewed as they are received. We stress that applicants who are not Chinese citizens are also invited to apply, and will be given equal consideration. We are seeking exceptional candidates for distinguished chair professors, in addition to tenured full or associate and tenure-track associate professors. All candidates should be in possession of a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline, have an outstanding record of research accomplishments, and have demonstrated the ability to lead a research group comprised of postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Candidates are expected to establish a strong and independent research program and to teach effectively at all levels. The individual's work experience and research performance will determine the position offered. In particular, candidates applying for a position as Distinguished Chair Professor are expected to be internationally influential in their discipline. Applicants for postdoctoral positions should possess a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline, acquired within the last 5 years, a substantive record of research accomplishments, and the ability to work in collaboration with faculty members in the department. Each newly hired faculty member will be provided with essential start-up resources and research infrastructure. Annual salaries for regular faculty positions range from 300,000 to 500,000 RMB (equivalent to US$45,000-75,000). Salaries for distinguished chair professors are negotiable. Postdoctoral fellows will be provided an annual stipend of 100,000-200,000 RMB (equivalent to US $15,000-30,000), based on the individual's experience and research record.
