Polyline Industries is a privately owned plastics fabrication company founded in 1999 by David Wilkie and David Law. Polyline first targeted the underground mining sector and introduced a number of unique products into the industry including Polyduct, Plastic Detonator boxes, Poly Pump floats and an underground poly pipe welding system to name a few. This product range as well as others is now standard issue in most underground mines. Expanding into the marine sector, Polyline introduced a number of plastic commercial boats into the arena, and is currently leading the world in design, functionality and standards, for polyethylene vessels. Polyline has achieved the highest survey standards in Australia in a plastic vessel as well as the largest and the only offshore Polyethylene Rig mounted vessel in the world. Polyline was named in the top 20 builds of 2008 in `Work Boat World', an international commercial boating magazine for its' 6.3m Work Response Craft and has continued to lead and develop new and exciting products. Polyline was named again in the top 20 builds of 2009 in `Work Boat World' for its' two sister ships the 10.2m YIKARA and the 10.2m PIPARN. A Custom product Designed to be manually installed by diver Designed as a pipe plug it encompasses the need to secure an umbilical through an existing sub sea pipeline.

FEATURES

Molded in two halves, locating pins have been incorporated in product for fitting. Fitted with a circular void the product is designed to locate over the end of the existing pipe. An external recess has been molded in to accommodate a HD strap to securely fix to the existing pipe.

Our GP600 Oil Containment Booms are supplied in 15m lengths conveniently packed into PVC bags. The GP600 is extremely easy to deploy as it is relatively light weight and packed ready to go. The boom has a 300mm freeboard and a 300mm draft giving it the ability to contain a spill in moderate conditions that would normally require a much larger type of boom. The boom materials are all PVC and PE which makes it impervious to contamination from oils and fuels.

Polyline Industries of Western Australia claims a fistful of firsts for their `Polyrib 6300 WRB'. The world's first polyethylene craft to be based on a platform, the first waterjet-diesel in its size range, the first waterjet installation to use a plastic jet intake, and the first and only combined fast rescue craft-workboat built in Australia. An impressive list, but more significant is that Polyline has built a vessel that has proved ideal for its job. They have coined a name for the new type: Work - Response Boat or WRB. Vermilion had the required fast rescue boat on station on the Wandoo B platform, but found, as most operators do, that there was little rescue work for it to do. There was plenty of demand for it, though, as a workboat ­ a role for which it was not optimised. Vermillion, therefore, commissioned IAS Marine to research the workboat-FRC concept worldwide. The result was the acceptance of Polyline's `6300', a Steve Bruyn design, subject to a great deal of testing. This included drop and brake tests at 50

metres/minute at full load plus ten percent, which Polyline extended to 60 metres/minute. The vessel's design is essentially a self-draining rigid buoyancy (RBB) centre console boat, constructed entirely from polyethylene: high density (HDPE) for the fabricated hull and deck, medium (MDPE) for the fendering system. The all-plastic structure was a major attraction of the `Polyrib 6300'. Besides its impact resistance, its freedom from corrosion or any other kind of decay meant near-zero maintenance requirements, and hull maintenance is difficult to carry out in the stowed position. With 6.3 metres in overall length, the `Polyrib' has a 2.5-metre beam and is powered by a 178kW Yanmar 4LHSTP from Power Equipment, driving a HJ241 Hamilton waterjet. The maximum speed of 35 knots is well in excess of specifications, due to the low friction of polyethylene. This applies both to water flow past the hull and through the jet intake. Overall efficiency is impressive too. At 22 knots, fuel consumption is only ten litres an hour, giving a 14-hour or 300nm endurance. Since most of the vessel's work involves line handling, bollard pull was important ­ something not usually associated with waterjet FRCs. The `Polyrib' produces 0.8 tonnes of bollard pull, and is equipped with a pair of towing points for mounting a bridle. Suiting the workboat role, the `Polyrib' has been given high sides for dryness, and deck space for uncluttered working. For adapting to rescue, the console has been located to give enough room ahead of it for securing a stretcher. The aft rails and seatback rests remove to allow the stretcher to be pulled through and forward. Polyline has built large numbers of commercial vessels, as well as patrol and oil spill response vessels, and all have demonstrated to their owners the toughness and miniscule maintenance requirements of polyethylene. Its low friction means what are usually abrading

impacts are barely noticeable on the fendering. Hard impacts are normally bend-and-rebound affairs, and severe penetrating impacts are readily repaired. Adding to the practicality of the `Polyrib 6300', its 2.5-metre beam means it can be towed on the road without permits or restrictions.
