Documentation for Foreign Nationals Welcome to the section of the Consulate General of Mexico in Dallas Texas, USA, dedicated to the expedition of visas for foreign nationals. Use this site to learn about the necessary requirements for obtaining Mexican visas and its process when planning to visit Mexico. Beginning May 1st, 2010, US visa holders, regardless of nationality, will no longer be required to have Mexican Visas when visiting Mexico for tourism, business or transit purposes (either by air, land or sea). Upon arriving to Mexican territory, a valid passport and US visa must be provided to the Immigration Officials to obtain the corresponding migratory form (FMM) that will specify the authorized length of stay as well as the approved migratory status. Permanent Residents of the US, Canada, Japan and/or the Schengen States, are neither required to have Mexican Visas for the purposes listed above. At the port of entry both, valid passport of nationality and proof of residency into any of these Countries must be shown. Business hours: Business hours are from 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM, from Monday to Friday. No appointment is necessary. A minimum of one business day is required in order to process a visa. It is the applicant's responsibility to make sure all required travel documents are prepared prior to booking a trip. There are no urgent applications. All must apply and pick up in person. We will not receive or send any documents via mail. Passengers on tourist cruises Any foreign National wishing to visit Mexican Tourist Ports on tourist cruises will not be required to have a Mexican Visa or previous authorization from the Mexican Migratory Authorities, regardless of nationality or migratory status in the USA. Tourist

All applicants' nationalities which require the issuance of a tourist visa in order to visit Mexico must apply in person at a Mexican Consulate or the Consular section of a Mexican Embassy, providing originals and one additional photocopy of the following: 1. 2. 3. 4. Completed and signed application form. Valid identification using a passport or other approved source. Must be valid for at least an additional 6 months from the day it is presented. (Copies must be of all pages which contain personal information, passport number, your signature, visas or stamps used to visit other countries) 1 passport sized photo (no eyeglasses, white background, taken from the front) Provide proof of legal status and legal re-entry to the country on which you are applying. If applying in the USA, must bring original and an additional copy of any of the following: US visa valid for multiple re-entries as well as a valid form I-94. Students in the USA, must present a valid form I-20. ENDORSED by the school you attend "Advance parole", Any other document necessary to return to the USA. Provide evidence of any of the following: (subject to the consul's approval) Proof of financial stability (Via account statements from savings, checking or other credit accounts from the preceding 3 months), or, Proof of stable employment via payroll statements from the preceding 3 months, or, Evidence of permanent residency via ownership of real properties, business ownership or partnership with a company. (Housing, apartment leases or utility contracts do not apply as proof of permanent residency) International frequent travelers (when having numerous visas or entry stamps from other countries) Must show original or certified copies of documents accompanied by a photocopy of each PLEASE NOTE: In case funds will be received from a family member (Parents, children or spouse only), please provide proof of relation. (Birth or marriage certificate) Minors must be accompanied by both parents or must provide a notarized letter from legal guardians. Duration of this Visa: Tourist visas are typically valid for 10 years. The maximum length of stay in Mexico will be 180 days per visit which will be subject to the migratory officials' approval. Business hours: Business hours are from 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM, from Monday to Friday. No appointment is necessary. A minimum of one business day is required in order to process a visa. Travelers in transit to another country

All applicants' nationalities which require the issuance of a visa in transit to another country must apply in person at a Mexican Consulate or the Consular section of a Mexican Embassy, providing originals and one additional photocopy of the following: 1. 2. 3. 4. Completed and signed application form. Valid identification using a passport or other approved source. Must be valid for at least an additional 6 months from the day it is presented. (Copies must be of all pages which contain personal information, passport number, your signature, visas or stamps used to visit other countries) 1 passport sized photo (no eyeglasses, white background, taken from the front) Provide proof of legal status and legal re-entry to the country on which you are applying. If applying in the USA: US visa valid for multiple re-entries as well as a valid form I-94. Students in the U.S.A., must present a valid form I-20. ENDORSED by the school you attend "Advance parole", Any other document necessary to return to the USA. Provide evidence of admission into the Country of destination. Provide evidence of any of the following: (subject to the consul's approval) A previous Mexican visa approved by a Mexican Consulate Valid US or Japanese visa for multiple entries Proof of financial stability (Account statements from savings, checking or other credit accounts from the preceding 3 months), or, Proof of stable employment via payroll statements from the preceding 3 months, or, Evidence of permanent residency via ownership of real estate properties, business ownership or partnership with a company. It is the applicant's responsibility to make sure all required travel documents are prepared prior to booking a trip. There are no urgent applications. All must apply and pick up in person. Business visitors, investors, technicians, consultants or personnel transferred by the US counterpart to a subsidiary in Mexico in which the stay in Mexico will not exceed 180 days .

A visa for business purposes is needed if the applicant is to visit Mexico in order to hold client meetings with the intent to advertise products or services, to become acquainted with different investment alternatives, to execute commercial transactions, to increase client base, to sign business contracts, to provide or receive products or services, for consulting or to perform technical or specialized activities including those related to the film and/or audiovisual industry. This document does not allow its holder to perform for-profit activities. Applicants whose nationalities require a visa for business purposes must apply in person providing originals and one additional photocopy of the following: 1. 2. 3. Completed and signed application form. Valid identification using a passport or other approved source. All I.D. sources must be valid for at least an additional 6 months from the day it is presented. (Copies must be of all pages which contain personal information, passport number, your signature, visas or stamps used to visit other countries) Provide proof of legal status and legal re-entry to the country on which you are applying. If applying in the USA: US visa valid for multiple re-entries as well as a valid form I-94. "Advance parole" and work authorization card. Any other document necessary to return to the USA as well as a work authorization card. An original, dated and signed letter on company letterhead, from the firm representing the applicant (the US counterpart in case you are visiting a subsidiary of the same company in Mexico), stating the following: Complete name of applicant, Nationality, Passport number, Specific purpose for the visit, Duration of applicant's proposed stay in Mexico, Specific destinations the proposed applicant is to visit, Party responsible for all charges incurred by applicant while in Mexico including salaries. (copies, scanned copies or electronic signatures on letters will not be accepted) Letters must be written and signed within 30 days. (1) Passport-regulation photograph, i.e. a photo taken from the front, without eye glasses, with a white background.

Duration of this Visa: Visas for business purposes are typically valid for 10 years. A visa for business purposes is needed if the applicant is to visit Mexico for 181 days or more, in order to hold client meetings with the intent to advertise products or services, to be acquainted with different investment alternatives, to execute commercial transactions, to increase client base, to sign business contracts, to provide or receive products or services, for consulting or to perform technical or specialized activities including those related to the film and/or audiovisual industry. This document does not allow its holder to perform forprofit activities. Applicants whose nationalities require a visa for business purposes must apply in person providing originals and one additional photocopy of the following: 1. 2. 3. Completed and signed application form. Valid identification using a passport or other approved source. All I.D. sources must be valid for at least an additional 6 months from the day it is presented. An original, dated and signed letter on company letterhead, from the firm representing the applicant (the US counterpart in case you are visiting a subsidiary of the same company in Mexico), stating the following: Complete name of applicant, Nationality, Passport number, Specific purpose for the visit, Duration of applicant's proposed stay in Mexico, Specific destinations the proposed applicant is to visit, Party responsible for all charges incurred by applicant while in Mexico including salaries. Duration of the visa: This visa will be valid for 6 months. The foreigner will have to enter Mexico within that time-frame. Upon arriving to Mexican Territory, the foreigner will have to refer to the immigration office within 30 days to get a Non-Immigrant ID card (Tarjeta de No Inmigrante) which allows the holder to legally stay in Mexico for as long as one year. Extensions may be granted at the expiration of the document. Business hours: Business hours are from 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM, from Monday to Friday. No appointment is necessary. A minimum of one business day is required in order to process a visa. It is the applicant's responsibility to make sure all required travel documents are prepared prior to booking a trip. There are no urgent applications. All must apply and pick up in person. We will not receive or send any documents via mail. Fees: For the Non-Immigrant ID card: $98.00 USD. Visa: $36.00 USD. Student

All applicants' nationalities which require the issuance of a student visa must apply in person at a Mexican Consulate or the Consular section of a Mexican Embassy, providing originals and one additional photocopy of the following: 1. 2. 3. 4. Completed and signed application form. Valid identification using a passport or other approved source. All I.D. sources must be valid for at least an additional 6 months from the day it is presented. (Copies must be of all pages which contain personal information, passport number and your signature) Permanent residents of the USA must present valid green card. An original, dated and signed letter of acceptance from the school in Mexico that you intend to attend. This letter must be signed, on school's letter head and presented within 30 days from issuance. Electronic signatures, copies or scanned copies will not be accepted. This letter will only be accepted when containing the following information: A) Your name, middle name(s) and last name as it appears on your passport B) Name of class or degree for which you have been admitted. C) Estimated length and/or exact date of class conclusion. D) Beginning date and deadline to enroll in the school. E) Exact tuition amount to be paid for the entire program. F) Academic requirements, such as previous degrees or classes, percentage of Spanish language required, or any others. G) School contact information: complete name and address, phone and fax numbers, email address, registration number etc. H) Must specify if the school has the official validation of the Authorities or not. If it's a private or a public institution, etc. I) Name, title, phone number and email address of the person responsible of signing the letter. (We may try to contact this person) Must demonstrate to have enough financial stability to support your stay in Mexico for the duration of your studies. Applicants must have means to receive a minimum of 300 USD per month or prove to be awarded with a scholarship during the same period. If providing documentation from parents, you must also provide proof of relation. (1) Passport regulation photograph: i.e. a photo taken from the front, without eye glasses, with a white background.

Duration of the visa: This visa will be valid for 6 months. The foreigner will have to enter Mexico within that time-frame. Rentista (Retired / Pensioned)

Mexican Migratory Authorities have established a migratory status for those wishing to reside in Mexico without having to engage in for profit/lucrative activities while in our Country. You can submit your application for this migratory status once in Mexico at the local immigration office where you wish to reside, or in the USA at a Consular Office, providing the following: 1. 2. 3. Completed and signed application form. Valid identification using a passport or other approved source. All I.D. sources must be valid for at least an additional 6 months from the day it is presented. (Copies must be of all pages which contain personal information, passport number, your signature, visas or stamps used to visit other countries). An original, dated and signed letter on company letterhead, FROM THE BANK or financial institution stating the following: Applicant's source of monthly deposits. Must show proof of an income source which is continual in nature such as: securities or pension funds, interest-bearing accounts, business ownership or other investment vehicles, real estate rental income, etc. (Gifts do not qualify as proof of income) Said deposits must be a minimum of $1,000.00 dollars per month, plus $500.00/mo. for each dependant. The letter must also specify how the money is to become available to the applicant while in México (via ATM, Wire transfers, etc). We advise you to bring copies of your last 6 months of statements. Copies, scanned copies or electronic signatures on letters will not be accepted. Letters must be written within 30 days. Letter must be notarized. A health certificate issued by a doctor, stating any health condition and medication you may use. Must be an original draft on company letter head signed by the doctor. (Letter must be notarized). A letter from your local police department stating you have no criminal record. (Letter must be notarized). 1 Passport-regulation photograph, i.e. photos taken from the front, without eye glasses, with a white background.
