"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor..."Luke 4:18! This is the favorite scripture of Pastor Raphael Adebayo, the Senior Pastor of The Winners Assembly, a parish of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, South Dallas, Texas. Born into a strict Moslem family, he grew up a devoted practicing Moslem and held a very high position in the mosque. In 1998, he miraculously encountered Jesus Christ, converted to Christianity and became a born again Christian. Pastor Raphael began to study the Bible like it was going out of fashion. He had a vision of taking care of the downcast and downtrodden of society and prayed to God for the manifestation.

In 2003, the church started as a street outreach ministry to the homeless on the corner of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. The purpose of the church from its inception has been to share love with brothers and sisters in the inner city of Dallas who are less privileged. In February 2004, they rented the Senior Building in the MLK Recreation center on Tuesday from 5pm to 7pm and began serving the homeless. The Pastor and his congregation of five people were encouraged by the signs and wonders happening before them. People's lives were transformed. The Winners Assembly had their first Sunday service on May 30, 2004 at the Eternal Rest Funeral Home's chapel in South Dallas. For three months, they used the chapel on Sunday mornings till the door opened for them at 1705-C Martin Luther King Blvd., Dallas, TX. They moved into this building and no sooner started feeding, evangelizing and catering to the homeless in South Dallas. There was a night club next door called Casablanca. The Winners Assembly catered to the spirit of the masses during the day, Casablanca night club catered to the soul of the masses at night. Since 2004, The Winners Assembly has seen many homeless people move to their own homes, former prostitutes serving in ministry, and chronic drug addicts delivered and serving Christ. People have been blessed with jobs and people on depression medication set free. On March 8th at 4:00pm, The Winners Assembly celebrated the grand opening of their newly acquired building that until December 2008, housed the famous night club Casablanca for sixty two years. For Senior Pastor Raphael Adebayo, a man with a burning passion for the homeless and the faithful members of his congregation, this marked the answer to many prayers taking into consideration their history as a church. According to Pastor Raphael Adebayo "in a sudden miracle of divine establishment in December 2008, God closed down a night club to make room for us. We are proud of our God He is indeed a no respecter of location, situation, personalities and conditions. There is no limitation with Him." The vision of Pastor Raphael Adebayo and members of The Winners Assembly is to go after the souls that are very dear to the heart of Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God.
