To impact our community for Christ by addressing the needs of women unprepared for pregnancy, encouraging life-affirming decisions, healing lives traumatized by abortion, and challenging them to embrace a biblical view of sexuality.

OurMission

Long before God fulfilled his promise of love, He spoke about it through the prophet Isaiah, "For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 1:23 (NKJV). Then, just as God promised, He sent forth His one and only Son, Jesus, wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. As we minister to others may we remember God's promise of Love.

God's Promise of Love

Our Hope

Quyen called the Severna Park Pregnancy Clinic to get information about abortion and schedule one for that day. Brenda, one of our counselors, told her that we don't perform or refer for abortions but we could provide information that would help educate her about all of her choices. Quyen said people had discouraged her from having children because she had worked around chemicals. She feared the possibility of having a baby with birth defects and her age compounded her fears. She asked a lot of "what if" questions. Brenda assured her that those were real concerns but that the first step was to confirm that she actually had a viable pregnancy. When Brenda offered to schedule a 3D/4D ultrasound that afternoon to determine if the baby's heart was beating, she agreed. When Quyen went to our Bowie office for the ultrasound, she was shocked to discover she was 14½ weeks pregnant further along than what she had thought. After seeing the baby move and hearing the heartbeat, she changed her mind and decided to carry the baby to term. Quyen called Brenda that afternoon and said, "Thank You. Because of the sonogram I got in Bowie, I decided to carry my baby!" In August, Quyen delivered Windy Ann a beautiful, healthy baby girl.

Abigail arrived at the Severna Park Pregnancy Clinic for what she thought was her Gynecare appointment. Instead she found us. Karlene, one of our volunteer counselors, told Abigail we were not Gynecare but that we could offer her information on abortion and a range of free services. Abigail listened but said she wasn't interested and left. A few minutes later she returned to use the phone because her car wouldn't start. Karlene was happy to help her out. Over the next couple of hours, Abigail called for cabs numerous times and none ever came. During that time, Abigail shared with Karlene and Kristin, another counselor, the recent traumatic death of her fifteen-month-old son. She had been advised to wait before becoming pregnant again. However, finding out she was pregnant and fearing another tragedy, Abigail thought abortion would be the "responsible" thing to do. Although she didn't think abortion was right and she believed God to be all sovereign, she said she was having trouble trusting God's sovereignty in this situation. This provided the perfect opportunity to share with Abigail God's care in all areas of our life. God allowed Abigail to spend the afternoon with caring, loving and compassionate counselors. Although we don't know the end of Abigail's story, we trust that God used those moments to plant a seed of hope within her heart. There are so many women, like Abigail, who walk through our doors, scared and alone. Our prayer is that God would continue to work through the Pregnancy Clinic Ministry to meet these women at their point of need and offer help, healing, and hope for themselves and their unborn babies.

Celebrate the Sanctity of Human Life: Sunday, January 20, 2008

The year 2008 marks the 35th anniversary of the Supreme Court's Roe v Wade decision which legalized abortion on demand in the United States. This has resulted in the deaths of over 45 million innocent babies. Imagine, that would be like wiping out the entire population of New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, DC, South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia. Working together, we can take steps to protect the Sanctity of Human Life (SOHL) and empower others with the knowledge of why SOHL is important. Put your love in action. Celebrate the SOHL Sunday, January 20, 2008. We'll do our part to provide you with the tools you need to do your part.

Youth Put Feet to Their Pro-Life Stand

Young people gather in the Severna Park Pregnancy Clinic's parking lot to pray before the Walk & Run for Life

Keith Chase, Church of the Holy Apostles Deacon, gets a Mohawk on behalf of Life.

A team of 27 college students from the Catholic Terps of University of Maryland banded together to run for Life!

"Raise $1,000 to support the Pregnancy Clinic's Walk & Run for Life and I'll get a wild hairdo." That's the challenge Keith Chase, a deacon at Church of the Holy Apostles, laid out for his church youth group. The youth exceeded the challenge raising nearly $2,000. After the run, the youth put the finishing touches on Keith's Mohawk. Keith was short on hair but long on praise for the group's commitment to Life. A group of 27 college students from the Catholic Terps of University of Maryland joined together to run for Life. "We were overwhelmed by the commitment of all of these young people." said Diane Karkosh, Church Relations Coordinator for the Pregnancy Clinic. "They value the Sanctity of Human Life and aren't afraid to take a stand in support of Life. It's awesome to see the next generation of leaders stepping up to the plate."

Prayer

For God's continued guidance as we work together to serve others in the New Year

We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day for the 2007 Walk & Run for Life. Thank you to all who participated, supported and volunteered at this year's event. We are especially grateful to Diane Karkosh for her commitment and hard work in coordinating the Walk & Run for Life. The 2nd Annual 5K Run for Life brought out nearly triple the number of runners as compared to last year with 138 runners crossing the finish line. Duane Dwyer, Master of Ceremony at the Severna Park Pregnancy Clinic's Walk & Run and a Pregnancy Clinic Board Member, was there to congratulate and thank them for their support. In Bowie, Ed Regensberg, Pastor of Faith Community Church in Gambrills, opened in prayer followed by praise music from two groups, Uprising out of Glen Burnie and the 20/20 Praise Band from Grace Baptist Church in Bowie. Participants enjoyed the music while kids waited in line to get their faces painted by the many talented volunteer artists. David Price, Senior Pastor of Grace Baptist Church urged participants and churches to continue on in their support of this life-saving, life-changing ministry. Pastor Price, who serves on the Pregnancy Clinic's Advisory Board, leaves this month to pastor a church in Lakeland, Florida. He and his family will be sorely missed.

Volunteer Counselor Training January 2008

The future is so bright . . . (We have to wear shades!)

Every day is one of excitement at the Bowie Crofton and Severna Park Pregnancy Clinic ministry, because we know that each day, lives and souls are being touched and saved. This sense of mission--and anticipation--reminds us that the future is always bright here. If the thought of touching lives with the hope Jesus offers is exciting to you, why not attend the next training this winter and then consider joining us? Qualifications needed? Men and women with a heart for Jesus Christ and a willingness to listen. From there we will train you so that you can be a part of changing lives and generations to come. Contact us at 301-262-1330 or [email protected] Together let's create an even brighter future!

The Baby Bottle Campaign is a great way for churches, families, and groups of all ages to become involved in the ministry of the Bowie Crofton and Severna Park Pregnancy Clinics. It's simple to run and lasts 4 weekends. You choose the start date. We provide the poster, bulletin announcements and baby bottles. Individuals fill the bottles with change and return them to the church. We do the rest. You may want to consider hosting a campaign around a special date such as SOHLS, Valentine's or Mother's Day. To schedule your Baby Bottle Campaign or get more information, please feel free to call or e-mail Diane Karkosh, Church Relations Coordinator, at 410-431-5000 or [email protected]
