Iris chrysographes was originally collected by Ernest Wilson in Sichuan in 1908 Iris chrysographes is more commonly known as the `Black Iris' due to its dark colouring Chrysographes is latin for `Gold Writing' due to the gold markings on its petals Flowering period May-June 40-45cm tall
