Culture and Community Spirit

Notice of Receipt of a Repatriation Application (Blackfoot First Nations Sacred Ceremonial Objects Repatriation Regulation) Pursuant to the First Nations Sacred Ceremonial Objects Repatriation Act (FNSCORA) and the Blackfoot First Nations Sacred Ceremonial Objects Repatriation Regulation made under that Act, the Province of Alberta as represented by the Minister of Culture and Community Spirit hereby gives notice of receipt of a repatriation application from a member of the Siksika Nation for two objects in the Government of Alberta's collections at the Glenbow Museum. The application is for the repatriation of a Beaver Bundle that was formerly part of the Horseman's Hall of Fame collection and of a Bear Spear and Robe Bundle (Acc. No.5293/89 Cat. No.AF 3788 AB). The Beaver Bundle is from the Blackfoot Confederacy and the Bear Spear and Robe Bundle is attributed to the Blood Tribe. Any person with interest in these objects, who either wishes to make written representations to the Minister relating to this application or to submit an application of their own, must do so within 30 days after publication of this notice in The Alberta Gazette. For further information, an interested person should contact the Aboriginal Liaison Officer at the Royal Alberta Museum, 12845-102 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T5N 0M6. Alberta Fishery Regulations, 1998 Notice of Variation Order 08-2011 Commercial Fishing Seasons The close times and quotas set out in Schedule 8 to the Alberta Fishery Regulations in respect of the waters listed in the Schedule to this Notice have been varied by Variation Order 08-2011 by the Director of Fisheries Management in accordance with section 3 of the Alberta Fishery Regulations. Where fishing with gill nets is permitted during an open season established by the Order, the gill net mesh size has been specified in the Order.

Pursuant to Variation Order 08-2011 commercial fishing is permitted in accordance with the following schedule. SCHEDULE PART 1 Item - 1 Column 1 Waters ­ In respect of: (55) Lesser Slave Lake (74-11-W5) a) In respect of the West Basin of Lesser Slave Lake i) - that portion which is less than 4.88 m (16 feet) deep and which is south of a line drawn from a point 600 meters north of the emergent vegetation on the point of land in NE 35-74-14-W5 known as Little Grassy Point to a point 600 meters north of the end of the Mission Creek breakwater in NW 8-74-13-W5 and then east to the tree line at Big Grassy Point in NE 9-74-12-W5; ii) that portion which is less than 4.88 m (16 feet) deep on the south shore and that is south of a line drawn from the point of land on north side of Section 29-73-11-W5 to the breakwater at Spruce Point Park in NE 5-74-10-W5; and iii) - that portion that is less than 4.88 m (16 feet) deep on the north shore and that is between the Hilliard's Bay Provincial Park boat launch located in the NW 17-75-13-W5 and the east side of the SW of 13-75-10-W5.
