Presbyterian School of Nursing Kaplan Nursing Admissions Exam Spring 2012

General Information All applicants applying to the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program are required to complete the Kaplan Nursing Admissions Entrance Exam. This is a 91-question online, multiple choice exam that evaluates the skills of students applying for a nursing program leading to RN licensure. All applicants will be given 165 minutes to complete the exam. After the exam, all applicants will be required to write a brief essay to assess competencies in writing. Essay topics will not be shared prior to the exam. An additional 30 minutes will be given to complete the essay. The exams are proctored by a faculty or staff member and a brief orientation will be given prior to the start of each exam. The exam contains questions divided into 4 sections: Reading section ­ 22 questions to be answered in 45 minutes Writing section ­ 21 questions to be answered in 45 minutes Math section ­ 28 questions to be answered in 45 minutes Science section ­ 20 questions to be answered in 30 minutes Registration Applicants must pre-register for the exam. All applicants are responsible for scheduling their own test dates for the anticipated term of entry. You must register at least one business day prior to your requested test date. Registering one business day prior to your requested test does not guarantee that space will be available. To register, please send an email to [email protected] An email will be sent confirming the time and date of the scheduled exam. Please do not register for a test date until you have submitted your application. Once your admissions application has been received and processed, you will receive an email confirmation. Depending on volume, processing may take up to one business day. Location The exam will be given at Queens' - 5th St. Campus (not at the main campus). The 5th St. Campus is located at 1901 E. 5th St. in Charlotte, behind Presbyterian Hospital and next to Sir Speedy. Applicants should come to the reception area in Suite 100 (on the first floor) first to check in. Information about parking will be provided in the confirmation email. Additional Information There is no cost to take the exam and it may only be taken once per admissions cycle. Test results will be will not be sent to other institutions. The dates provided below are for applicants that are interested in applying for the Spring 2012 term only. It is highly recommended that applicants take the exam only if the admissions requirements have been met. Applicants interested in study materials may contact Kaplan directly or purchase a Kaplan study guide on Applicants should plan to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the start of the exam to allow time for parking. The door to the testing area will be closed at the start of the exam. Applicants that arrive late to the exam will be required to reschedule for another test date. All applicants scheduled to attend for a rescheduled date will be notified in advance. Please note: If you need to reschedule your date, you must give our office a notice of at least 1 business day. If you do not contact us within that timeframe and do not attend on your exam date, your application may not be considered for admission. Frequently Asked Questions What should I bring? You should bring a pencil and photo ID. Please do not bring food or drinks into the testing area. Calculators, cell phones, and all other electronic devices are prohibited and must be placed away during the exam. Will other nursing entrance exams be accepted? No. Students interested in applying to the ASN program at Queens must take the Kaplan Nursing Admissions Exam. When will I find out the results? How will they be evaluated? Results will be shown after the exam has been taken. When a candidate applies for admission to the ASN program, their application is evaluated based on the admission criteria.
