December Party

If you missed the meeting in December, you missed a great party. Lots of fun was had by all. A record number of quilts were distributed this year, Connie was presented with her President's Quilt, and the Pennyroyal Players put on a wonderful show.

Susan Contreras The Penny Royal Players were extremely well received at our annual holiday meeting. The Players were very gratified by the audience response and sent me an email thanking QBS for letting them come to entertain our membership and guests from local charities. Lee Warinus, Sonia Das, Randy Miller and helpers did an amazing job with signage and creating just the right atmosphere to make our guests feel special. The heartfelt speeches by each charity representative inspired those present. Members knocked themselves out with an amazing array of potluck specialties, mulled apple cider, and diet busting dessert offerings. A huge hug and thanks bunches to all who participated in the event. Especially board and committee members and QBS standouts who came very early to help set up and decorate to ensure a successful and memorable party. There is a special corner in Quilt Heaven for people who give their time and elbow grease to set up and tear down. We appreciate you! Also, please make sure to shop and give "a big QBS shout out" to the owners at local quilt shops that donated fat quarters so we could give a holiday gift to each December attendee. These include: Bears Quilt Shop in Garden Grove; Bunney Hutch in Los Alamitos; Flying Geese in Tustin; Quilter's Garden in Placentia; Sew Vac Ltd. in Long Beach, The Calico House in Placentia; The Quilt Cupboard in Garden Grove; Two Wacky Women in Long Beach & Seal Beach. The fat quarters were simply beautiful, varied and a generous contribution.

Is there anything more gratifying than acknowledging local talent? Make sure to join us for January's Program on Thursday, the 8th, when we welcome Orange County resident and quilt designer Teri Christopherson as she regales us with her musings on "Sewing at Midnight and Other Adventures at Black Mountain Quilts."
