Makes (4) 15-1/4" Placemats Materials:

1/3 yard of a Large Blue Floral print 1/3 yard of a Large Green Floral print 1/3 yard of a Large Yellow Floral print 1/3 yard of a Large Red Floral print 1 yard of a Green Daisy print 1/4 yard of a Yellow Weave print 1 yard of batting 1/4 yard of fusible web Yellow embroidery floss

From each of the floral prints, cut: (8) Large Wedge shapes From the Green Daisy print, cut: (32) Large Wedge shapes

Sewing Directions:

Note: Use a 1/4" seam allowance unless otherwise stated. PREPARATION: Trace (8) Large Flower Centers onto the paper side of the fusible web, leaving at least 1/2" space between each piece. Cut out the pieces 1/4" beyond the drawn lines. Cut away the center of each circle leaving a 1/4" outside ring. Following manufacturer's instructions, iron the rings to the wrong side of the Yellow Weave print. Cut out each ring on the outside drawn line only. SEWING: 1. Fold (1) Large Wedge shape in half, right sides together. Sew a 1/4" seam across the top as shown. Turn right side out and press with the seam centered on the back to make a petal unit. Make (2) petal units from each of the floral prints and (8) petal units from the green daisy print.

2. Lay out the (8) Floral petal units in a circle as desired. Sew the petal units, right sides together, along the side edges to make the placemat front. (Note: Seams may need to be adjusted so that the placemat lays flat.) Press well. In the same manner, sew (8) Green Daisy petal units together to make the placemat back.

3. Center and fuse a Large Flower Center circle on the placemat front and one on the placemat back, covering the hole. Appliqué using a blanket stitch to secure.

4. Lay a sewn placemat front on top of the batting as a pattern and cut out the shape. Trim the batting shape back 1/4" all around so it is slightly smaller than the placemat front. Layer the placemat back (wrong side up), the batting shape, and then the placemat front (right side up) matching the wedge seams as close as possible. Quilt as desired.

5. Using (2) strands of Yellow embroidery floss, blanket stitch by hand around the outer edge of the placemat to hold the front and back together. Repeat to make (4) placemats.
