Private Cooking Classes & Storefront Gallery Events

Our cooking classes are fully hands-on, led by our highly experienced chef instructors whose mandate is to de-mystify the art of cooking fine food. We provide all utensils and everything you need to create a successful meal, including wines selected to pair with your chosen menu, and a recipe booklet. For an extra challenge, we can arrange a black box competition for an additional cost of $100 per team.

Better than a TV cooking show, our Quince Studio is fully interactive. Come taste the difference!

Join us in our state-of-the-art Studio kitchen and beautiful storefront gallery designed by Marc Bricault. Whether it's a kitchen party where everyone cooks an amazing three course menu, or a fabulous food & wine pairing party with friends, family or colleagues, we'll make sure you have a fun decadent and educational culinary experience . Quince is located in the boutique culinary hub at the edge of Granville Island. We offer a range of cooking classes and food & wine pairing events led by our very experienced and knowledgeable Chef/Sommeliers. Perfect for a birthday celebration, bridal shower or corporate team building event, our private classes and events provide you with what you need to have a great time, while learning about fine food and wine.

Private Cooking Class Menus Seasonal Menu: evening booking: $125pp

For this class we choose wines from around the world to complement a fresh, seasonal menu. Please choose one appetizer, one main course and one dessert for the entire class. B.C. is renowned for its dramatic coastline and abundant seafood which we have drawn on for this menu. Of course we will be pairing with our wonderful local wines. For this sumptuous menu we've chosen the freshest and finest local produce, which we'll match with our favorite higher-end B.C. wines. Food & Wine Pairing Events min 12pp

We can host a variety of Food & Wine Pairing events in our Front Gallery, from a general introduction to food and wine pairing, through to our regionally based classes focusing on British Columbia, Australia, Alsace or Tuscany. Our food and wine events are demonstrationstyle events. We can set up `food and wine stations' with the food coming out throughout the evening (more of a party-type atmosphere) or serve each item one at a time with a short info on the wine and the food to which it is paired. The Food & Wine Pairing events run from 6:00 to 9:00, although we can accommodate these events earlier in the day.

Quince Light

This lighter version of our hands-on cooking class is 2 hours in length, perfect for wedding showers, engagement parties or more social-style events where cooking is not necessarily the focus. The event starts with a glass of wine, a few hors d'oeuvres and socializing in our storefront gallery. Then join us in the kitchen to cook a dish which you will enjoy as a group with paired wine at our harvest table. Quince Light offers: 5 hors d'oeuvres per person, 2 glasses of wine, one appetizer (and the recipe and preparation thereof). We also offer a brunch version of Quince Light.

Introduction To Food & Wine Pairing evening booking: $125pp,

daytime: $115pp

This class will explore the science and subjectivity of food and wine pairing. Chef/Sommelier Andrea Jefferson will guide you through a variety of wines, from the savory and sparkling to the aromatic, with a delicious Tapas style tasting menu. Educational and lively, this class will teach your palate the benefits of discrimination. Wine selection may vary and is based on availability. Following is a typical menu for this class...

General Information for all Quince Private Bookings Regional Food & Wine Pairings... no passport required

Chef/Sommelier Andrea Jefferson takes you on a delicious guided tour of regional foods and wines. You'll learn why Tuscany produces great reds and Alsace produces great whites, what is a Syrah wine, and why are those South Australians so good at producing them? A regionally-influenced, mouth-watering Tapas-style menu will serve as the conduit for the evening, with a featured dish demonstrated by the Chef in our Quince Studio. · · Prices do not include HST . Private bookings last 3 hours. Please ensure your group arrives on time. We usually allow 20-30 minutes for everyone to arrive. In the event that your group would like to extend the length of an event in order to include speeches, ceremonies or socializing, an extra charge of $100 per hour will apply. This will apply 30 minutes after the finish time of your event. Daytime bookings can start anywhere between 12-2pm. Evening bookings can start anywhere between 4-7pm. Upon booking, a 50% deposit is due along with a credit card number guaranteeing the balance. The balance is due within 7 days after the event. Any outstanding balance due past 15 days will be charged to the credit card. * Please note: we do not provide separate cheques; both the deposit and balance are charged to one host account. Cancellation requires 30 days notice. Bookings made for November and December require 60 days cancellation notice. A $200 cancellation fee will be charged for cancellation notices less than 30 days (60 days in November/December) prior to the event. Canceling within 10 days of the event will result in loss of 50% the deposit. Canceling within 5 days of the event (1 week in November and December) will result in loss of 100% of the deposit. The menu for the class must be confirmed one week prior to your event. Exact numbers for the groups should be confirmed five days in advance. * Please note: numbers confirmed are the numbers billed for. Half a bottle wine per person, or equivalent in virgin cocktails, are included in the price of our Full Length Cooking Classes. Two glasses of wine per person are included in the price of our Quince Light Classes. Drinks consumed over and above this will be charged at the a la carte prices. Pellegrino is not included in the menu price. Let us know in advance if your group would like to put a cap on these drinks. If you would like to start your evening with hors d'oeuvres and/or cocktails, please ask us for our Hors d'oeuvres & Drinks menu. We recommend 2-3 hors d'oeuvres per person. Our hors d'oeuvres platters are sensational too! We are able to offer a Seasonal Vegetarian 3 course menu. We do our best to accommodate dietary restrictions.

British Columbia's Okanagan evening booking: $150pp, daytime: $140pp

A tasting menu incorporating the finest and freshest of B.C. flavors will accompany pours of great Okanagan wine. From sparkling to dessert wines, succulent oysters, artisan cheeses and Quince's famous Cinnamon Duck Breast; this province has it all covered.

Alsace evening booking: $150pp, daytime: $140pp

Alsace is the smallest of the French winemaking regions, located on the far eastern side of France on the German border. With strong culinary influences from its once German occupiers, the region is known to produce some of the finest Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Gewürztraminer grapes.

Tuscany evening booking: $150pp, Daytime: $140pp

This sumptuous food and wine pairing evening is filled with the rich aromas, intense flavors and warm breads of Tuscany, accompanied by regional wines which promise to bring out the best in every morsel. Wines included from Chianti all the way to Vin Santo.

South Australia evening booking: $150pp, daytime: $140pp

Despite its new world status, South Australia has a thriving culinary scene and a world-class wine industry. You'll find out why the famous wine writer Robert Parker loves Barossa Shiraz, and why Clare Valley Riesling is claiming to be the best in the world. The tasting menu will include delicious samplings of contemporary Australian cuisine.
