The Voice of Dependable Auto Shippers

DASLINE

January 2003

You get the best of all worlds with the Peterbilt Model 379: classic styling along with a productive, highly refined balance of performance and reliability.

On November 26, 2002 DAS signed the dotted line to purchase 20 new Peterbilts in continuing our plan to upgrade the fleet. This is the first time in DAS' history to move away from buying Freightliner chassis in the open auto transport application. "Our goal is to provide our drivers with the most user friendly equipment available while lowering maintenance costs," states Ken Phillips VP of Operations. "Peterbilt has a long history of satisfied customers and ranked highest in satisfaction for three of the past four years," said the manager of commercial vehicle research for J.D. Power and Associates. "They produce a truck that keeps their customers satisfied. Peterbilt scored highest in each of the six factors of satisfaction." These six factors of satisfaction are vehicle quality; vehicle engine; vehicle transmission; ride, handling and braking; vehicle cab interior and exterior design and styling. DAS is also replacing our 1999 enclosed transports, which should be available in the first quarter of 2003. This upgrade will make our fleet's oldest units 2000 models that will be scheduled for replacement in early 2004. As usual, DAS stays ahead of the competition with the newest fleet possible.

DAS Buys New Peterbilts for 2003

From its aircraft- grade huckbolts providing six times the strength of rivets to its aluminum hood and stainless steel grille, the Model 379 is, above all, a driver's truck.

DAS Salesmen Receive DuPont Award

Congratulations to Frank Leporino, Director of Corporate Sales Eastern Region, and John Hudak, Corporate Sales Manager, who were presented with the "Overall Performance Award" for superior service from Dupont. Leporino and Hudak attended Dupont's Vendor Alliance Seminar in Wilmington, DE. DAS has been a part of Dupont Relocation Services since the spring of 2002 and works directly with Dupont and various moving companies in arranging vehicle relocations. The award is a reflection of an outstanding job by all DAS employees working together to provide top notch service. Thanks gentlemen for all your hard work and dedication!

DAS Urges Prior Planning for Successful Vehicle Relocation

In order to ensure the finest possible shipment of a vehicle please follows these important guidelines: 1. For more accurate pre-shipping inspections, be sure you thoroughly wash your car. 2. The gas tank should have approximately ½ of a tank of gas, to avoid transporting and weight difficulties. 3. Remove all personal items from your vehicle that are not factory installed. Be sure to dispose of beverage bottles, or anything holding liquid from inside your vehicle. When the temperature drops it could cause the fluids in the bottle to freeze and burst inside your vehicle. 4. Check your vehicle for the appropriate levels of antifreeze & coolant. 5. Be sure your tires are inflated to the recommended pressure according to the manufacturer. 6. Check for cracks or chips in your windshield. The change in climate can cause a chip to crack or a crack to further extend. Preparing your vehicle for shipment during the winter season, or any time of year, is a vital part of a successful DAS move. Although you may be moving your vehicle from one warm climate to another warm climate, your vehicle may still go through areas which are colder and could create problems if it's not prepared properly.
