ROCKHURST HIGH SCHOOL Rockhurst High School, a Jesuit college preparatory school for young men, is situated in the southern residential portion of Kansas City, Missouri. Established in 1910 by the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus, Rockhurst draws upon a tradition of education in continuous practice for more than four hundred years. Rockhurst High School is one of 50 Jesuit high schools and 28 Jesuit colleges and universities in the United States, and draws students from throughout the greater Kansas City metropolitan area. The entire student body represents more than 100 elementary and junior high schools from the metropolitan area. Enrollment for the 2006-2007 academic year stands at 1040 students. The class of 2010 will number 285 students. The class of 2007 numbers 247 students. DIRECTOR OF COLLEGE PLACEMENT The Director of College Placement is delegated responsibility by the Principal for activities directly related to college exploration, application, and matriculation. This person oversees the organization and operation of the College Placement Office (CPO), coordinates all college related activities and programs, and serves as the primary liaison with high school and college counselors. Involvement in professional organizations and regular visits to college campuses are expected and encouraged to promote the reputation of Rockhurst students. Masters preferred. High school college counseling and/or college admission experience required. Specifically, the COLLEGE PLACEMENT DIRECTOR responsibilities and expectations include, but are not limited to:

· exceptional written and oral communication skills; · ability to guide and counsel students throughout their college search and selection process; · membership and involvement in professional development organizations and conferences; · regular research and updates on college trends, campus offerings, and issues pertaining to the college admission process; · technology capacity for website updating and CPO-specific programming (Naviance©); · overseeing the direction of the Advanced Placement (AP) program of the College Board; · overseeing the direction of the Advanced College Credit Program (ACCP); · directing all college programming for students and families: annual Catholic High Schools' College Fair, Junior and Senior evening programs, and small group meetings for sophomores and juniors; · overseeing the development of Rockhurst's annual profile; · setting annual calendar dates for college placement activities with the Dean of Students ; · overseeing the direction of the Parent Host volunteer program;

· developing and managing the CPO budget; · organizing regular staff meetings with and for members of the college placement team; · directing and evaluating annually the members of the college placement team; · maintaining appropriate correspondence with and for the Jesuit Secondary Education Association (JSEA) Other responsibilities and duties may be assigned at the discretion of the principal. The College Placement Director is a member of the administrative staff, and actively participates in the weekly staff meetings, the endof-year debriefing sessions, and is available to the principal for regular consultation. The length of contract for the College Placement Director is 10.5 months (August 1 thru June 15), and is renewable annually at the discretion of the president and principal. The College Placement Director is to be on campus each school day from 7:30 AM until at least 4:00 PM. With the permission of the principal, the Director of College Placement may take the weeks of Christmas and spring breaks as vacation time. As with all administrative positions, the Director of College Placement is encouraged to attend cocurricular activities (athletic, cultural, spiritual) on a regular basis. Additionally, the Director of College Placement shall participate in the pastoral/spiritual programs of the school.

All school administrators shall attend meetings of the faculty and staff, student assemblies and liturgical services, and the end of year graduation exercises. It is the principal's expectation that an attitude of cooperation and mutual respect shall exist on the administrative team, and that administrators will consciously and consistently work towards achieving that objective. School administrators shall demonstrate a sense of optimism and joy, loyalty to school and community, and prayerful support of, and assistance towards, all members of the Rockhurst community (students, parents, faculty, staff members, benefactors, board members, alumni).
