Summer Day Camps

The following day camp programs are offered at the Rockcliffe Park Community Centre. Participants need to bring a sun hat, sunscreen, water bottle, bathing suit (for sprinkler and water play), towel, peanut/nut-free lunch and two snacks. Register for pre- and post camp supervision from 8-9 am and 4-5 pm for an additional fee per week. Parents/guardians must complete and submit a signed participant enrolment form prior to the first day of camp. There will be no camp on July 1 and August 1. Many City of Ottawa Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services programs may be eligible for the Children's Fitness Tax Credit. The Children's Fitness Tax Credit is a federal, non-refundable, personal tax credit that lets parents claim up to $500 per year for eligible fitness expenses paid for each child who is under 16 years of age at the beginning of the year in which the expenses are paid. As we age, our strength, stamina, balance, and flexibility tend to diminish. Often our postures and immune systems are compromised, negatively affecting our vitality and well-being. This yoga class is specifically designed to therapeutically address these and related issue so we can continue to live youthful, vibrant lives well into our senior years. Pilates-Level 1/2

A strength training class designed to improve your core stability and posture. Emphasis is on proper breathing and maintaining a neutral spine. All skill levels welcome. Bring a yoga mat and wear comfortable clothing: no hoodies and no shoes during class. Instructor: Molly Duggan, 9 classes Mondays, 10 classes Fridays. No classes on Apr 22 & 25, May 23.

Walking is a low-impact exercise with numerous health benefits. It's good for your bones, improves fitness, tones your body and reduces the risk of certain cancers. Walks will be one hour long and approximately 4-5 km. Wear walking shoes and dress for the weather. Leader: Karen Venema, 10 weeks. Dropin fee is available. Working at our desks, driving in traffic, watching our favourite TV shows, typing at the computer: we spend several hours each day in a seated, forward-flexed position which, over time, can result in the loss of the natural curvature of the spine, poor posture and sore backs. Our digestive systems and ability to breathe deeply may also become compromised. Through a series of gentle yoga postures and other therapeutic practices, which you can do at home, these conditions can be avoided allowing us to live with increased vitality and well being.
