Documentation WFA3/9 1 Safety Precautions:

The WFA3/9 unit is set up according to protection class 2 and can switch a maximum voltage of 230 Volts AC mains. The VDE regulations are applicable, particularly DIN VDE 0100, for fountain installations section 738 and DIN EN 60335-1. Even when the unit is switched off, there may be current flowing from the connection clips at the side of the unit. The unit is not to be operated by children. In commercial use, observe the safety precautions for the prevention of accidents established by the employer's liability association for electrical installations. When opening the cover, or when parts other than those normally removable are removed, live circuits and connectors may be exposed. When the unit has to be opened due to adjustment, maintenance, repair or part replacement, it must be disconnected from all power sources. When maintenance or repairs need to be carried out with the power connected, this may only be done by a QUALIFIED SPECIALIST acquainted with the necessary safety standards, precautions and potential hazards. Only use tools which are specially approved for working with live current! The unit must never be immediately switched on after being transported from cold to warm environments. Under unfavourable conditions, the resulting water condensation may destroy your unit. Wait until the disconnected unit has reached room temperature. Ensure adequate ventilation while operating the unit. The unit must be mounted on a 35 mm rail, so that the air can flow freely over the housing. The unit is mainly cooled by convection (movement of heat in air). If the unit can not be operated without potential danger for any reason, it must be fully disabled and secured from unintentional use. This applies · when the unit is visibly damaged · when the unit no longer functions · after long storage under unfavourable conditions · after unfavourable transport conditions The unit must only be operated in dry, closed rooms or be encased in a housing with the corresponding protection. The unit must only be operated with an ambient temperature of between 0 and 50° C.

The personnel responsible for operating, service, inspection and mounting must all have the relevant qualification for this work. Shared domains of responsibility, competence and supervision of personnel must be organised in detail by the operator. Should the personnel not have the necessary knowledge, they must be trained and instructed. This can be undertaken by the manufacturer/supplier if requested. Furthermore, the operator must ensure that the entire manual is fully understood by the relevant personnel.

2.1

Description:

Wind level dependant switch-off with the WFA3 / 9 unit This control unit was designed for the wind level dependant switch-off of fountain installations. The amenometer measures the wind velocity and sends an impulse to the WFA3/9 unit for evaluation. When the pre-set wind velocity is passed, the pump will be switched off.

General installation and connection

3.1 Wind level fountain control unit WFA 3 / 9 The single module was designed to be part of the main control unit. With a separate housing, it is suitable for mounting on an encased carrying rail NS 35, and with a cover measurement of 45 mm by 4 TE for mounting in an installation box. It can only be operated with the power pack NT230/2418VA or another 24V DC power supply.

3.2 Wind level fountain control WFA 3 / 9-K In the WFA 3 / 9-K unit, the WFA 3 / 9 control is mounted and pre-wired together with the mains adapter NT230/24V-18VA in a small distributor of protection type IP54. The wind level control unit for fountain installations WFA3/9-K should be flood protected by mounting in a dry, well ventilated room. The maximum room temperature should not exceed 30° C. The control unit should be fixed to the wall in such a way that the operator has easy access and can work without any danger. The housing is mounted to the wall by four screws. The electrical connection may only be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with the local EVU regulations as well as valid national and international regulations.

4.1.1

Description of function Mode 3

In operating mode WFA 3 (Mode 3) the wind velocity is continuously checked. Three switching contacts operate independently to each other. The single relays turn the fountains off according to set wind speeds. When the wind velocity drops, a set delay time starts. To avoid a premature new start, the delay time will be reset with each gust of wind, so that the fountain will not operate until calm conditions are stable.

4.1.2

Description of function Mode 9

The operating mode WFA 9 (Mode 9) is conceived for addressing frequency transformers with binary coded digital inputs. Up to 8 wind velocities can be programmed and passed on to the transformer via three relays. Then the binary values can be ordered to the different pump rpm values in the frequency transformer. In the WFA 9 mode the wind velocities from levels 1 - 7 have to be programmed in a rising sequence otherwise the error report Level Err will appear. The setting of the level parameters and time delay values is done as in Mode 3.

Manual Operation and Setting Parameters of Basic Control PosiDescription Manual operation : With manual operation, the different relays can be switched separately. The respective switching modes are maintained, even during a power cut. After returning to the automatic mode the manual function is cancelled. Setting parameters of basic control positions You may exit manual operation, to get to the parameter mode, by pressing the time key (>3sec.). Here the parameters for mode 3 (see 4.1.1) or 9 (see 4.1.2) can be set. Anemometer Type The Anemometer can be chosen with a diameter of between 80 and 240 mm.

CT- value measuring cycle: The CT- value is the time during which the wind velocity is measured before switch-off. (sensitivity) With RESET, the regulator can be reset to its original position, as set by the manufacturer. Adjustment as set by the manufacturer:

5.3 Setting Levels and Time Delays Function and operation:

Description:

Level for rated value: Mode 3 The rated values for the maximum wind velocity can be set independently between 0,5 and 33 m/s

Mode 9 The rated values for the maximum wind velocity are set rising in accordance to the different switching levels.

Switch on delay times: The pre-set rated value for the delay is between TS = 5 sec. 30 min for all switch points. Delay times between levels: The delay between the different levels avoids parallel draining of several pumps during simultaneous release. Time can be set between 1- 30 sec.

Fault finding chart

Possible cause There is no power supply from the mains for the WFA 3. The installation was switched off due to a gust of wind. Remedy Check the safety fuse in the power pack and the control fuse. The restarting connection time lag has not yet run out.

No. Fault 1 Installation is switched off despite calm weather.

The connection from the Anemometer to the regulator is interrupted, no impulse is sent out.

Check the Anemometer and the connection cable .
