Modified Pole Puller

by RT Tools

Working as a lineman for 30 years, I have struggled with existing pole pullers, thinking there must be a better way. Therefore, I modified an existing pole puller, making it safer and easier to use. The following pictures illustrate a successful demonstration of a pole puller I modified for Omaha Public Power District in Omaha, Nebraska.

The design of the base plate allowed the pole to be pulled straight up without slipping or readjustment.

The pole puller I designed is a one-piece unit, fully self-contained, that is handled entirely by machine.

A transmission pole did not pose a problem for the puller. It was pulled safely and efficiently, due to the modified base plate.

Any existing pole puller can be modified. The base plate can also be made to fold against the cylinder, allowing for easy storage.

I have designed the pole puller to be freestanding, allowing the lineman to focus on the pole, instead of the puller. There is no need to unhook the hydraulic lines or move the pole puller as it stands completely out of the way by itself.
