meet....

Chris Lüttichau

LOCATION: Cornwall, England MORE INFO: www.northerndrum.com

Where did you first meet shamanism? I was my early twenties, in the wilderness of Norwegian Lapland, I was sitting on top of a high hill. Below me I saw Sami reindeer herders walking across the tundra, Indian file. The sight could have been hundreds of years old, and the experience awakened something in me, a calling. Which teachers and teachings have influenced you the most? My first teacher in the US, Mahadyuni, was a powerful, courageous, and wise old woman. The first time we sat facing each other in her tipi she read me like an open book. Then I knew everything was possible. Since then I have studied with many other teachers, mainly in the US. I am an eternal student. What makes your heart sing? Watching hawks rise and circle on the wind. Seeing people awakening and letting their spirit do the same. What is the most bizarre situation that you have found yourself in on your shamanic path? Back in the 1980's, one of my teachers in the USA and I went to the dump with a truckload of garbage. When we began to unload, he told me to start praying and thank mother earth for taking my garbage. I did what he said, but he just kept saying, "Louder!" I raised my voice, and soon I had about 30 people watching and listening while I unloaded the truck, thanking mother earth at the top of my voice. My ears turned very red. Where on earth do you feel most at home? When I access that inner childlike place of curiosity and adventure, I feel at home almost anywhere, wilderness or cities, but my favorite places are the mountains in the western US, the deserts in Arizona and New Mexico, and the pyramids in Mexico. What do you do for fun? I like to move, so I go for long runs, go kayaking, and do a bit of martial arts and archery. Or even better; if someone lends me a swift horse, and there is an open trail through the forest. I also love a good action film, martial arts film, or a great Western. What is your favourite food? When I go on wilderness expeditions in Lapland I make sure to get my favorite meal before we take off: venison steak with cranberry sauce, followed by lots of vanilla ice cream. What music do you like? Rock and country music, in that order. I also listen to traditional American Indian music. I like the power and the focus it holds. It's not entertainment, though. It's the mystery expressed in song and drumming Best book and film? Reading `Siddhartha' by Herman Hesse as a teenager was my most impactful reading experience. Right now my favorite book is `Birdsong' by Elphick, Pedersen and Svensson. It has a sound module with an electronic recording of each bird. Sometimes there is a wonderful film where I feel spellbound, and know that something is very, very right and true. `Avatar' is such a one. `Geronimo' with Wes Studi is the film I have watched the most times. What message to your 12-year-old self would you give? Find your own vision, walk your own path. Be willing to take big risks, no matter what anyone else says. Stay close to the earth, find your connection to spirit, and always trust your instincts. A wish for the future? Let there be much more love, compassion, understanding, generosity, creativity, joy, freedom, wisdom and truth.

CEREMONY ON THE EVENING OF 21-12-2012

Shared by Chris Lüttichau Shifts in consciousness throughout history have usually been accompanied by changes in the external world as well. Those changes can take different forms such as climatic, political, and others. We are in the middle of such a shift now, and our planet is getting ready for the next cycle in her evolution, just like we are. Good things often emerge out of difficult times both on a planetary and personal level. My elders say that this is a time of awakening, and that a generation of young people will step forward and show the way. They are people who have been born with a pioneer gene, so to speak. Uniting the power of our collective consciousness we will carry out a ceremony on Friday 21st Dec 21.0021.30 GMT.You can participate wherever you are. Here is a description of the ceremony: 13 Call on the powers of the 7 directions, your spirit helpers, the planets, the stars and all our relations. 23 Light a candle and burn sweetgrass or other smudging herbs as an offering. 33 Imagine a gathering place, a circle of the people. 43 Use breathing to centre yourself. 53 Pray for a future world where there is much more harmony, love, compassion, joy, peace, freedom, creativity, beauty, and respect. Pray for the people to awaken. Pray for your personal consciousness to grow. 63 Imagine this world coming into manifestation, dream it into existence. Meditate on what it will be like. 73 Stand and find a posture of your own choice, for instance facing east with your arms raised. Breathe in the power of the ceremony. Then give thanks to everyone. support each other. Working with the seasonal energies and festivals - with ritual, crafting and altars. Creative and nourishing. The Million Prayer Project

A ceremony of prayer and hope, for the birthing of the 5th World of humans, on December 21, 2012. A group of Canadians are journeying to the Andean highlands to meet with fellow shamanic practitioners, spiritual seekers and the Aymara peoples. They go to pray for the healing, growth, empowerment, and transcendence of humans as we enter into the 5th World of change and challenges: the challenge to see spirit in ourselves and others, the challenge for humanity to rebalance. Their goal is to place a million prayers for peace, balance, hope, and harmony into pinches of tobacco to be burned in the sacred fires and medicine pipes of the gathering. To reach this goal, you are invited to add your prayers. These can be added online. You can also do your own ceremony sending your prayers and energy to the gathering on Dec 21st. www.shamanicmedicine.ca/amillionprayers See a video at http://bit.ly/QWjwfn

December Solstice 2012 to March Equinox 2013

At December Solstice 2012 a rare and powerful alignment kicks in, setting up a resonance that will reverberate all the way through to the Equinox and beyond. To this astrologer at least, the dance between Saturn, Pluto and Jupiter in the chart for the Solstice looks very much like the business end of the whole 2012 thing, and it' all about priming s the flow of energy through our personal and collective `World Tree.' W e can do this through working with the innate power at its roots and clearing the channels it flows through. Saturn, in Scorpio is in partnership with Pluto in Capricorn through the coming three months, giving an opportunity to firm up our relationships with our ancestors and address any blockages to these deeper connections. Here we can focus on any karmic debt and unfinished business we might have with them. Pluto's influence means we can push through with this now - and leave no stone unturned in the process. This in itself is big medicine! Emerging through Jupiter, this medicine brings profound changes that will impact our personal and collective philosophy and our world view . Potentially this can have a revolutionary ef fect upon how we think and communicate, releasing an expansive and sensitised intuitive power into the world. But, the key is to work intentionally with it as it emerges, and to open fully to our `dreaming.' Best practice is to focus - while letting the power of change flow through us - and take notice of what's coming through! The lunar cycles through this quarter will throw up challenges for us to stay with the process and not be sidetracked, and we need to be uncompromisingly self-honest. This will make our medicine that much more powerful a force for healing and change in the world, and, there will be plenty of opportunities for stepping into those particular roles over the coming three months. The foundational theme for this quarter is really all about making and renewing our crucial commitment to weighing anchor and letting go fully into our personal soul journey , and this will come up for review when Saturn, Pluto and Jupiter reform the Solstice alignment at Equinox in March 2013. It' s a journey endorsed by the ancestors, and the rewards for the groundwork we put in now will be to see our medicine work realise its full potential as a powerful conduit for the other worlds to work through in this one. This is our time to be magnificent in this work! Have a great Solstice and good journeying...
