`ALL IRELAND SOURCES NEWSLETTER'

Editor: Terry Eakin, 334 Burns Bay Road, LANE COVE, NSW 2066 Contact E-mail address: [email protected] ISSN 1443-5888 Volume 12, No. 8 August 2010

Introduction: `All Ireland Sources' is a monthly newsletter distributed free by E-mail to Family History Societies and interested researchers near the end of each month. Distribution by Australia Post each three months (three issues) costs $6.00 annually within Australia. The aim is to bring items of interest regarding Irish record sources to the Australian genealogist. The editor would appreciate being made aware of records relating to the Irish, particularly those held in Australia or new in the LDS Family History Library. Back copies available free for downloading from www.sag.org.au Note email address.

O'Kief, Coshe Mang Research in Counties Cork and Kerry: Last chance to purchase. O'Keif, Coshe, Mang is a 16 volume set of books on research in counties Cork and Kerry by Albert E. Casey containing 30,000 pages and 3,000,000 personal names which are fully indexed in each volume. To give the publication its correct title: O'Kief, Coshe Mang, Slieve Lougher and Upper Blackwater in Ireland 1952-71. There are several sets of these volumes in National, State and genealogical libraries throughout Australia. I wrote of this valuable publication in Volume 1, No. 4, February 1999 and bought a full set for my private library. Recently I found the five volumes missing from the library of the Irish Genealogical Research Society in London and this purchase concluded satisfactorily with the five volumes delivered to London in about 7 to 10 days after payment was cleared. The volumes are long out of print but I found Banner Press (the publishers) sold their remaining stock to a local in Alabama USA. I tracked the purchaser, John Awbrey and he can be contacted by email at: [email protected] or by writing to John C. Awbrey, 2673 Rexford Street, Hokes Bluff, AL 35903, U.S.A. John has a few full sets available but single or selected volumes can be purchased and all volumes are US$20.00 each, the Index Volume is US$5.00 plus packing and shipping. These are heavy volumes and shipping will cost more than the volumes outside of the USA and Canada. John Awbrey will prepare your order and get a quote on the actual shipping cost and then you can pay by US dollar cheque or as you arrange with John Awbrey. Some volumes have minor water stains from Banner Press days. Some reprints are not bound. So if you are missing some of the volumes or need a full set, contact John Awbrey on email [email protected] I'm sure they will not last long.

A link to the parish database is provided below to assist with training readers as the browsing of the baptisms from a parish are difficult to locate. Knowing how to browse is handy to know when searching for a surname which has several spellings. The same links occur on the website for each parish in each county but they take a bit of locating to select You then click on the person's name to read the full certificate including sponsors (baptisms) and witnesses (marriages). Go to www.irishgenealogy.ie to the home page to start or click the link below if it is County Cork you want to search. · · · · · · · · · · · · · · ·
