Harcourt Horizons ­ People and Communities Homeschool Lesson Plans

To the Parent: We recommend that you briefly review the topics in each chapter of Harcourt Horizons ­ People and Communities to get a general understanding of how and when they are introduced. We also suggest that you read and familiarize yourself with the following sections of the Harcourt Horizons ­ People and Communities Homeschool Package that are not included in the daily lesson plans. You may or may not choose to include these activities in your instruction. · Reading Your Textbook, pp. xiv-xvii: an overview of the unit, chapter, and lesson format; the parts of a lesson; skills pages; special features; atlas; and reference tools. · Atlas, pp. A2-A13. Political, physical, and overview maps are designed to assist and engage students in map study. Additional teaching and activity suggestions are in the TE. · Atlas: Geography Terms, p. A14. Definitions along with illustrations of 22 physical land and water features. Many of the suggested group activities in the Teacher's Edition can be adapted to be completed by an individual student or by the teacher partnering with the student.
