I. Course Description This course will feature a survey of the Old Testament in the English Bible, an exposure to relevant introductory issues, and some exposure to critical issues. II. Course Objectives Students will be able to: 1. Furnish an overview and general introduction to the Old Testament 2. Examine the teachings and theology of the Old Testament 3. III. COURSE REQUIREMENTS (Due dates for all assignments can be found in the course schedule, a separate document that you download from "Handouts"). 1. Students are expected to maintain the reading schedule, to view the lectures and participate in web-based forums on course material, all according to the schedule given in this syllabus. The assigned readings for the lectures are noted at the beginning of the lecture outlines, which can be downloaded from Ecampus under "Handouts>Lecture Outlines/Introductions" (in MSWord or Adobe Acrobat formats). 2. An initial forum will enable each of you to introduce yourself. Four additional forums will be based on the readings and lecture materials. Instructions for

participation in the forums can be found on Ecampus under "Handouts>Miscellaneous." 3. Two exams will be given: one at the mid-term and one at the end of the semester. Exam 1 will cover material from lectures 1-16. Exam 2 will cover material from lectures 17-43. LATE POLICY: Assignments submitted late will receive a grade no higher than "C". IV.
