Sheboygan County United Soccer Club

Sheboygan County United Soccer Club is a volunteer organization serving Sheboygan County select youth soccer players. SCUSC organizes team tryouts and recruits volunteer coaches and team managers for ages U11 through U-18. These teams provide youth soccer players the best opportunity to play at the competitive "select" or "classic" level, as well as grow and develop as an individual and team player. The Club emphasize the fundamentals of skill development and personal improvement. Teamwork and commitment to the team concept are major objectives. "Select" soccer is a team of players that have been selected on the basis of performance at tryouts. These players may not necessarily be the best players, but are individuals who compliment the other players and make up the best team. This selection process, using organized tryouts, takes place in late May/early June, bringing current and new players into the same process. SCUSC values and promotes continuing education about soccer, competitive play, leadership skills, good sportsmanship and 'love of the game' for players, coaches and parents. More Questions? SCUSC Questions & Answers

Q: What is the difference between "Select" or "Classic" soccer and recreational soccer? A: Select level teams are formed through tryouts. There are no tryouts for recreational soccer. Select teams play other competitive select teams and do not play recreational teams. Q: When are tryouts held? A: For the 2011-2012 season, tryouts will be held the week of June 13th for the incoming U11--U14 teams. Players should plan to attend all evenings scheduled. Tryouts will be held at Horace Mann Soccer Complex. Please see other side of brochure for specific time information as well as when parents meetings are scheduled. Parents new to this process should plan to attend. Q: What is the cost for a Sheboygan County United player? A: The initial costs are approximately $290 ($200 club and league fees / $90 for a Uniform if not currently owned.) These fees include a team camp for the U11,12, and 13 age group teams, to be held in Sheboygan the end of July/beginning of August. Other miscellaneous expenses such as tournament fees, food and transportation are the responsibility of the player and parents. Some of these costs may be offset by team fundraising. Q: How are players evaluated at tryouts? A: Players participate in a series of drills to highlight their individual soccer skills. Scrimmages are held to show their abilities in game situations. All players wear a numbered tag to identify them and their skills are recorded for that player by number not by name. Q: Who evaluates the players? A: Independent evaluators, potential coaches and experienced players give their time to evaluate players. ___________________________________________ What to Bring to Tryouts: · Soccer Ball (age appropriate size, inflated) · Soccer Shoes / Cleats/Shin Guards · Water · Appropriate Weather Gear · Keepers - Goalie Gloves Q: What are the age levels?
