It offers weblike search functionality that you will be familiar with from your experience of using Internet search engines. One of the more powerful features is the Search All, this is based around a single input box and accepts a variety of inputs, from names and code to more specific queries such as `Microsoft Nasdaq' or `GBP 3M Deposit Prebon'. The workflow and results management has been improved to allow you to drill down at various points of the results display to see more information within the Search application. It is easy to customise and save your searches and a new Results Analysis function allows you to analyse and view your results set by a range of criteria The Data Store is a new way to save and open files across your own files and Reuters delivered files easily. A "find files" option helps you to easily retrieve files you saved or Reuters delivers to you by default. It provides you with instant access to a network of 60,000 financial professionals, who use Reuters Messaging as a part of their daily work.

Accommodate for your platform requirements and delivery needs

Key customer-driven improvements were done to the Reuters 3000 Xtra v5 package aimed at simplifying and streamlining the install, deployment and maintenance process. A completely redesigned and rebuilt MSI has resulted in a package that is fully MSI compliant and will meet the demands of the most demanding environments. In addition RDMC had been enhanced both from a usability point of view and form a functional point of view providing further tools to help deploy and maintain your desktops. MIgration away from legacy components has resulted in the replacement of SSL, SSL Adapter and SSLCom with RFA (Reuters Foundation API), the removal of PDD, RGO and RG Pro, which have now been completely replaced by PowerPlus Pro and MetaStock. Some key features that will ease support, include the possibility of a shared display templates location, ability to download Record Templates from an RTIC, a shared configuration file for all Market data options, a read only requirement for XMS model location and the use of MSP technology for patching.

Dynamic Colouring

You can dynamically colour specific cells in a row using the new COLOR function. Its syntax is "=COLOR(ForegroundColor, BackgroundColor, Col1, Col2...)". The first two parameters specify the foreground colour and background colour. The next parameters are the columns whose colours you want to set. You can combine this function with an IF function to colour cells depending on the value of other cells. This formula, for instance, will display the company name in red when its stock is falling more than 2%: =COLOR(IF(PCTCHNG()<-2,"RED","BLACK") ,"WHITE",DSPLY_NAME())

Use COLOR function to highlight stocks that have fallen more than 5% in the last 5 days

"Flash Colours" (previously called Renditions) are columns (slave) whose colour temporarily change when another column (master) value change. You define these through the "General Appearance > Flash Colours" menu entry.

Sorting made easier

The Power Plus Pro functions: DEUPDATE, DESIMPLEUPDATE are now available in the Spreadsheet object. You can copy/paste the function directly from PPPro, and it will retrieve the same historical and reference data. This makes building a sheet that displays this kind of data much easier.

Streamlined Menu Structure

Menus have been grouped under the Object menu when the Spreadsheet object is selected.

Use DESIMPLEUPDATE instead of DEUPDATE to get the result directly in the cell containing the function.

Retrieving more time series

When using the SERIES function, if a filter is applied, and if one of the cells in a row did not pass the filter, the whole row was filtered out, even if that cell was not displayed. Example: if requesting the DATE and CLOSE fields, but the BID field is not present for a given date, the DATE and CLOSE fields will not be displayed for that date. The new "Tools > Options > Services > Time Series Filter Definitions >Show Partial Row" option allows you to change this behaviour. If it set to yes, such "partial" rows will be displayed.

SERIES2 function

The SERIES2 function allows to use regional settings options for the format as well as to use the VLOOKUP function on result of the SERIES2 function. It takes the exact same parameters as the SERIES function, but does not automatically format times and dates. You have to manually format them.
