Views o All: libraries, lists, discussion boards, and surveys Document libraries are like folders containing web pages, documents, and other files. Picture libraries are like folders with special functions for previewing pictures. Lists contain information such as links, announcements, events, contact information, or any other data that would be logically stored in a database. Discussion boards provide a moderated portal for collaboration between users Surveys provide feedback and/or assessment. o Document Libraries Assignment Pages templates created by Mike Wohlgemuth for displaying lists of assignments. Assignments are stored in a database and displayed on the page. Reference Documents place to store handouts and other files to share with students, parents, etc. Syllabus not necessary; the syllabus may be uploaded as a reference document Create new document libraries based on Units, Subjects, or other logical groupings o Picture Libraries Class Pictures sample folder to upload images related to your class. Create new picture libraries based on projects, periods, or other logical groupings Images built-in picture library for uploading images to be used on other pages in your site o Lists announcements, assignments, calendar events, contact info, and links are all stored as lists Web Parts templates for specific site content o Image Web Part paste the URL of the image you want to display. This can be an image from the Images picture library. o Content Editor Web Part add custom content by typing in rich text, creating HTML source code, or linking to an external file. Search Google or ask me or Nic for HTML code to insert video, custom tables, or other objects on your page o Site Image replace the Chiles crest with an image from your picture libraries Animated gifs (often used in PowerPoints) will work on web pages too Permissions o We can give students access to post assignments to your SharePoint site so they can work from home or in groups. Permissions can be defined in such a way that their content is not available to others, so it will not be plagiarized and to prevent exposure of inappropriate material. o The educational uses of this portion of SharePoint technologies are still being researched. We plan to do more with this next semester. Check the Chiles site to see if your SharePoint site is linked to your name under Departments. If it is not, email Nic Karmanos with the URL of your SharePoint site. Complete Reflection Log and Evaluation
