23511 `Live the Legend,' SCI's 2009 Convention theme comes alive on Krieghoff's `Legends of the Hunt' double rifle donation, chambered in .470 Nitro Express. Rifle is custom engraved and presented for auction by master engravers Michael Oke and Andreas Scholz who capture the spirit of the Big 5 safari in exquisite detail. A proud lion holds a freshly caught zebra on the receiver's left side, complemented by a mighty rhino on the right side standing ready for a challenge. An alerted elephant stands tall on the receiver bottom, while the agile leopard pursues its prey on the trigger guard. 23401 Blaser K95 Imperial single-shot rifle, `The Dall Sheep,' in .300 Winchester Magnum caliber, donated by Blaser USA, Inc. The Blaser K95 has long set a standard of performance under the most demanding conditions. Its compact, elegant and ergonomic design make carry effortless while its reputation for accuracy, due to the unique tilting lock-block-design, elevates confidence. The action is beautifully hand-engraved by master engraver Juergen Goeser. It features impressive combinations of Dall sheep motifs in deep relief style on both sides, enhanced with leaf arabesques and filled with fine English scrollwork. The barrel base features delicate gold inlay. A true master of his craft, Goeser was also commissioned to engrave Blaser's R93 bolt action rifle bearing the serial number 100,000 in 2002. Since he began to work closely with Blaser in 1978, more than 200 high-grade Blaser guns have been engraved by Goeser, whose distinctive personal style is a combination of deep relief with the finest Bulino. The elegant stock has a Bavaria-style cheekpiece and a slim forend with ebony tip. Both feature elaborate, fine checkering and are highlighted by truly exquisite Turkish walnut of the highest Blaser grade. SAMPLE OF WORK 23553 A special firearm pair including a Beretta UGB25 Xcel shotgun in 12-gauge and a Benelli ARGO rifle in .30-06, has been generously donated by Beretta USA. The Beretta UGB25 features an innovative locking system with break-open barrel that allows operation in complete safety during competition. The operating principle is based on short recoil, which keeps the internal parts clean even after prolonged use. Short recoil and low barrel axis position almost completely compensate for muzzle jump during firing, allowing quicker and easier re-alignment of the barrel on the target for subsequent shots. This 30-in., Optima barreled sporting gun features an adjustable deluxe walnut stock. The black finished receiver is hand-engraved with scroll by Master engraver Guilio Timpini with the SCI logo finished in gold inlay. This special `Safari Galleria' edition features a case-colored receiver machined from a solid billet of 41-40 steel with auto ejector, flat-V main springs, opposing double bridge action, double triggers and 28-in., cryo pattern, stress relieved barrels with five choke tubes and a traditional game rib. The barrel bores feature a trademark Tuff Bore coating enabling the user to shoot lead, steel or virtually any available shot type. This Galleria Edition also features a raised gold special Safari Club logo on the bottom, solid gold raised birds inlayed on each side and ornamental scroll, designed by Grand Master Richard Roy.
