company profile

SLP Engineering Limited has nearly 40 years of experience in the offshore oil and gas industry. By continuously developing our management systems and skills as a service provider SLP is able to provide fully integrated turnkey solutions to our customers.

The engineering group within SLP is primarily focused on providing design and engineering services to the EPC and EPIC market through the amalgamation of our engineering and construction skills. With the support of our engineering consultancy service SLP is uniquely equipped to meet the needs and specifications of our clients. SLP employs its own team of designers and engineers to prepare Minimum Facilities Platforms (MFP's) to meet the demand of client specifications and delivery. These are supported by experienced procurement, compliance, construction and project management personnel who provide support to EPC and EPIC project teams. This skilled organisation lies at the core of SLP's EPC capability. Through the undertaking of EPC contracts since 1983 and EPIC contracts since 1996 SLP commands industry respect. A proficient understanding of specifications and procedures enables SLP to provide first class support to the offshore industry. By combining engineering, construction and project management expertise SLP have become the front-runners in the MFP market. experience and design

SLP has developed a standardised range of production platforms for its clients' use on marginal fields in the North Sea. This range includes the SeaHarvester, Sea Pony and Unicorn concept.

The principle benefits to the client when adopting the MFP design in comparison to traditional solutions are: SLP considers itself a market leader in the design and construction of MFP's destined for the North Sea. This position has been achieved by the development of standard designs for platforms with minimum process facilities including the SeaHarvester concept. The MFP's key features are as follows:

Low cost Guaranteed timescales Standardisation of design Reliability Established safety case Track record

SLP can offer an MFP design as an alternative option for the benefit of marginal field development. The main feature of this design concept is a substructure framing arrangement. This was developed to minimise wave loading and therefore structural weight and cost for substructures supporting relatively small topside loads. Over 60 structures of this type have been installed in the Gulf of Mexico, serving as wellhead platforms, supporting up to 8 wells, in water depths in excess of 70 metres.

"Off the shelf" design Standard substructure design

adaptable for differing water depths, environmental and soils conditions.

Minimised environmental loadings Long fatigue life to reduce sub-sea

inspection requirements.

Reduced offshore hook-up time Standardised installation approach. Simplified rig interfaces. Reduced operator / maintenance

visit frequencies.

Developments improved by lessons

learnt feed-back.

facilities and services

SLP Engineering Limited is based in Lowestoft, Suffolk (UK). Our onsite engineering, procurement offices, bulk storage, fabrication workshops, construction areas, blasting and painting shops ensure a smooth transition through the phases of EPC and EPIC contracting.

Available facilities include:

Extensive construction facilities The capacity to transfer

up to 6,000 tonnes via two load out quays

For onward transportation,

barges up to 128m in length and 36m wide can be moored next to load out quays. SLP's geographical location allows direct access to the North Sea, whilst the harbour benefits from a low tidal range which significantly assists the load out operation.

In addition to its own UK facilities, SLP can provide MFP solutions on an international basis in conjunction with its world-wide partners. This field development capability provides an economic solution to marginal field exploitation via remote operation. We offer a proven track record in the successful completion of EPIC contracts, a clear understanding and management control of key project drivers including safety, schedule, cost and quality. Along with a demonstrable record of successful partnering, alliances and joint ventures.
