Explanation of Firmware Versions for Atheros (Intellon) HomePlug products

You can identify the version string for HomePlug devices by running the Atheros (Intellon) Power Packet Utility. This utility is generally supplied with your Solwise HomePlug devices or it can be downloaded from the Solwise web site. When you run the utility it will show the Local Device which is the one nearest via LAN to your PC.

To get the f/w version click on Diagnostic. For example...

The firmware string (in this example) is INT6300-MAC-3-0-3052-1120-20070816-FINAL-B There are three sections of the firmware string which are of general interest. These are shown in another example below INT6400-MAC-4-0-4011-00-3430-20090501-FINAL-C Chipset Major Version Date

So the chipset is the Intellon 6400. Other chipsets you might see are Intellon 6000, Intellon 6300, Intellon 7400, and Intellon 5500. The Major version number is 4.0.4. Other examples on this page show version 3.0.3 (above) and 5.0.5 (below). The string at the end shows the date the f/w file was created. So, for example, above is 1st April 2009. Below shows 29th May 2010. INT7400-MAC-5-0-5000-00-469-20100629-FINAL-B
