Fetal Echocardiography: an intense review course for sonographers

August 17-19, 2007

Course Description This comprehensive 2-day course will provide sonographers a detailed overview of fetal echocardiography. The course will review the embryology, anatomy, physiology and scanning planes of the fetal heart and describe numerous congenital anomalies, their ultrasound appearance and the planes and Doppler technique to identify them. A hands-on dissection of a heart will help participants get a better understanding of the 3D anatomy, the relative position of the great vessels and the position of the valves. Social activities are designed to allow discussion time with faculty and to network with peers. This course is specifically designed for cost-effectiveness for the participants. Sunday, August 19 We are planning a fun and educational canoe trip on Sunday morning down the Harpeth River. Check out the link: . This is a very calm water ride, accessible to children and grandparents, but not handicapped accessible ! This is not white water rafting at all. We will leave the hotel at around 8:00 am and be on the water by 8:30. During the trip we will take a break for an anatomy lesson. We will be dissecting sheep hearts to learn the anatomy first hand. The fish will appreciate the leftovers! We will end our trip at about noon. The cost of the canoeing is about $20/person payable on site. Let us know if you cannot participate in this segment of the conference!

"Hello Jill, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for being instrumental in organizing the fetal echo course. It has been a very rewarding and exciting experience as it brought us (sonographers) closer together. The information gathered surpasses that of any other seminar I have attended on the subject of the fetal heart. I am extremely grateful. Please share my sincere thanks with Dr. Jeanty who proved to be a real person(not just a legend). Thanks are also extended to Juliana Leite, Pamela Ross, and all (sonographers and physicians) who came together for this occasion. With deep appreciation, Alwyn McCalla RDMS Brooklyn,NY "Course material covered by Dr. Jeanty and his staff far exceeded my expectations. As a "visual learner" I benefited tremendously not only through the lecture material but with the numerous images shown and hands-on pig heart dissection." Can I please come back every year!! Alli Albright, BS, RDMS, RT (R) Clinical Applications Specialist GE Healthcare Ultrasound

The fetal echo course last summer held by Jill Beithon and Dr. Philippe Jeanty was one of the best courses that I have ever attended over my twenty-five year career in sonography. The material was amazing and the lectures were excellent. We had a wonderful time in Dickson. The food was wonderful. The canoe trip was a great way to end this fantastic educational course. I'm looking forward to attending the conference again this summer. Thanks for all your hard work on an excellent course.
