Opening in early 2012

A new era of industry training begins for the Saskatchewan Energy Training Institute

Opening in early 2012, Saskatchewan's new Energy Training Institute facility will become one of Canada's most innovative and stateof-the-art educational institutions. The 44,000 sq. foot building in Estevan's Glen Peterson Industrial Park will include multiple classrooms, training labs, and three industrial shops for indoor hands-on training. The Energy Training Institute, as part of Southeast Regional College, began its legacy in 1990 to keep pace with the ever expanding needs of the energy sector. As such, the College began to provide employers and individuals with local access to certified safety training courses that were previously only available out-of-province. As the Energy Training Institute and the Saskatchewan petroleum industry entered the new millennium, opportunities became available for safety training to become more diversified. The Energy Training Institute solidified partnerships with established safety organizations and continued to be a training leader for various industries in Saskatchewan. Innovation was a primary motivator for the College, as it pioneered safety training through videoconferencing technology, as well as investing in its own mobile training simulators. With the completion of this new facility, we look forward to a new era of industry training that will create many emerging opportunities for our partners to join us in serving our industry stakeholders and fulfilling our vision... leading the way, reaching people and communities through the power of learning. The Southeast Education Foundation is undertaking a $3.5 million campaign to purchase materials and equipment for this facility in support of career training in the energy sector. If you or your organization would like to contribute, please contact Marla Smith at 306-848-2527 or [email protected]
