The children are invited to join the group after the introduction of the Mass. Parents are asked to ensure their child is signed in so that we have a correct register should there be an emergency. CONGRATULATIONS: We congratulate all those who made their First Holy Communion this weekend at St George s along with their families, friends and catechists. MONDAY: This Monday, 6th May, is a Bank Holiday and therefore there will be only the one Mass at 12.30pm.


Also on Monday, there will be a Mass for Migrants in honour of St Joseph the Worker at 10.30am in Westminster Cathedral, Victoria. Please see poster at the back of the Cathedral. LAST WEEK S COLLECTIONS: First collection last week was £1,226.32, and the second collection was £453.92 for the Society of African Missions Appeal. Thank you very much. THE RISEN CHRIST IN ART: By popular request, Fr Geoff Wheaton SJ will be back with us to share his reflections on the Christian story using the medium of art. His topic this time will be The Risen Christ in Art. The session will take place on Wednesday 15 May between 7pm and 8.30pm in the Amigo Hall, Lambeth Rd, SE1 6HR (next to St George s Cathedral). All are welcome. There is no charge but donations are invited to cover expenses.

THE PILGRIM: May s issue of the Diocesan newspaper, The Pilgrim is now on sale, price 50p. MASS FOR NEW CATHOLICS: Archbishop Peter invites those who have been baptised and/or received into the Church at the Easter Vigil to join him to celebrate the Mass with New Catholics at St George s Cathedral on Saturday 18 May at 11am. In this Year of Faith, we join together to thank God for the gift of faith he has given to us all. It is a gift which comes from God through others passing on the faith by their example and word. Godparents, sponsors, friends, family and parishioners are all very welcome to share the joy of our new Catholics. After the Mass refreshments will be available in the Amigo Hall. DIAMOND JUBILEE CELEBRATION: On Tuesday 28 May 2013 the 12.30pm Mass will be a celebration for the Diamond Jubilee of Priestly Ordination for those who trained at Wonersh seminary and who were ordained priest in 1953. Bishop Howard Tripp, Bishop Francis Walmsley, Canon Bill Clements (who was Administrator at St George s between 1970 and 1980) and Fr Ken McCarthy are expected to be here on the day although Fr Cyril Williams and Fr Andrew Dorricott are unwell and cannot be with us. After the Mass there will be refreshments available in the Amigo Hall. All are welcome. It would be helpful to have an idea of numbers for catering purposes and so, if you will be coming to the reception in the Hall, can you kindly let Dee, the Parish Secretary, know via email on [email protected] or by phone on 0207 928 5256. SOCIAL JUSTICE IN THE YEAR OF FAITH: Justice & Peace Spring Assembly Franciscan Study Centre, Saturday May 11th Canterbury 10.30 until 4.00. Coach running from West Croydon. Light lunch provided for small donation. Free - all welcome WOMEN OF FAITH (AMIGO HALL): This week Dr Anne Inman (Director EPS) will be the speaker in the series Women of Faith which is taking place on Thursday evenings between 7.30pm and 9pm.


ACTS 15:1-2,22-29. The first Council of the Church meets to decide what to do about converts who were not Jews. The Council Fathers send delegates with authority, to communicate their decision to the local churches. PSALM 66. The Church spreads, and so more and more people will sing the praises of God. APOCALYPSE 21:10-14,22-23. We have a vision of the future. The Church is a sign, here and now, of this future reality. JOHN 14:23-29. Jesus alludes to two events: His return to the Father (the Ascension) and the sending of the Holy Spirit (Pentecost). The first concludes Jesus bodily and physical presence on earth, and the second begins the life of the Church which continues Jesus presence through the Holy Spirit.
