Water Vapor Permeance ASTM E 96, ASTM E 154

Poly-America hereby certifies that its 10 mil and 15 mil Husky® Orange Guard® vapor barriers meet the ASTM E 1745 specification for Class A, B, and C. Recent test results from a reputable GAI* accredited independent laboratory show that the water vapor permeance of Husky® Orange Guard® is 10 times lower than the industry standard set by ASTM E 1745.

INDEPENDENT LABORATORY TEST RESULTS

Water Vapor Transmission (ASTM E 96) 10 mil Husky® Orange Guard® 15 mil Husky® Orange Guard® 0.008 g/hr/m2 0.005 g/hr/m2

Once they leave the factory, vapor barriers may be exposed to a variety of site-specific conditions. After installation, vapor barriers may be subjected to immersion or partial immersion, stretched due to long term stress, subjected to low temperature that reduces flexibility, and once in contact with soil, attacked by organisms or substances in the soil. Any of these conditions may reduce their resistance to water vapor flow. The 10 mil and 15 mil Husky® Orange Guard® vapor barriers have been tested by the same reputable laboratory under the specified conditions per ASTM E 154. Test conditions included wetting and long term soaking, resistance to thinning when under stress or when exposed to elevated temperature, effect of low temperature and bending, and resistance to deterioration from organisms and substances in contacting soil. Test results show that water vapor permeance of the 10 mil and 15 mil Husky® Orange Guard® is still several times lower than the ASTM E 1745 specification after exposure to these environmental conditions.
