New Series Sponsor Announced for 2011

2011 sees a new series sponsor come on board to support the State Championship. Air Technology Australia was a Round Sponsor in 2010 and the company has increased their support of NSW Sports Sedans this year to become the major sponsor. All State Championship cars will be wearing an Air Technology Australia windscreen banner supplied by ASSA for the season. The company will also continue to sponsor the Best Presented Award. Air Technology Australia supplies ventilation and air conditioning equipment to end users and contractors, including fans, water chillers, electric motors, variable speed drives, controls, ventilation grilles, weather louvres and associated spare parts. They also supply fibreglass automotive components for specific Sports Sedan builders. Customers are many and varied. Their activities include mining diamonds and gold, building road and rail tunnels, spray booths, food processing factories, all kinds of manufacturing, industrial applications, education at schools and universities, transportation, and buildings both small and large. The ATA customer base is spread throughout the whole of Australia and they have exported to customers on nearby Pacific Islands and in the Middle East. The Air Technology Australia focus is on quality energy efficient solutions for air movement applications.

CAMS Motor Sport Come and Try Day

On Sunday 16th January CAMS hosted a Motor Sport Come and Try Day at Eastern Creek. Erik Gattermeier organised the Sports Sedan display on behalf of the club and submitted the following information: A new initiative by the NSW CAMS office with the cooperation of the ARDC was to put on a free open day to showcase NSW motorsport to new participants. While the free track time on the Eastern Creek circuit received the most attention the paddock area was also full of things to see. All aspects of our sport were on display, from the behind the scenes stuff detailing the administration, scrutineering and emergency recovery side of the things to the many classes that make up motorsport in NSW. The pit area was full of race cars from all types of classes from circuit racing and other forms of motorsport such as Hillclimb, Drifting and Rally. ASSA NSW was of course there with two cars on display and members of our club fielding questions from interested onlookers. Thanks must go to George and Darren Steeden and Herbert and Erik Gattermeier for putting their cars on display and also to Jeff Brown for helping set up the display. Also doing our category proud were Chris Jackson and Geoff Whittaker who ran their race cars in the 3 lap demonstration race and put on a good show in the process.

CAMS regarded the day as a success and the following letter was sent through to all the clubs who provided assistance over the weekend:

14 February 2011 Dear Volunteer, You recently helped out at the CAMS Come and Try Day at Eastern Creek International Raceway on 16 January 2011. On behalf of CAMS, I would like to express my gratitude for your assistance on the day. Without your involvement, and that of your fellow volunteer/officials, the Come and Try Day would not have been possible. It was great to see so many people give freely of their time and help generate such a great atmosphere and wonderful first introduction for the many new potential motor sport participants. The feedback we are receiving from those who attended has been overwhelmingly positive, and this is a testament to the commitment, professionalism and effort of all who assisted on the day. Some facts and figures from the day: * There were 260 registrants, with 210 attending on the day, including 40 juniors * We had over 105 volunteers and officials involved in making the day happen * We had 70 volunteer driving coaches and demonstrators * We had more than 15 exhibitor club/motor sport displays * Many of the participants have shown an interest in following on from this first taste of motor sport and it looks like we will see a good number get involved as competitors and officials * We are getting many requests to run another Come and try Day Once again, thank you for your involvement with the CAMS Come and Try Day and I hope you have an enjoyable time in motor sport for 2011. Yours sincerely John Bruning Senior Manager Sport and Club Development

2011 Best Presented Award

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, 2011 will again see the awarding of a "Best Presented" prize. The award includes a perpetual trophy and an individual trophy each year. To be eligible all you have to do is turn up and race, having put a little pride and preparation into your beloved Sports Sedan. An independent judge representing one of our sponsors will allocate points at each round of the championship for the cars deemed to be best presented, with the winning car being that with the most accumulated points over the year.

Round Sponsorship

A number of businesses are again lending financial support to the ASSA and the championship this year as Round Sponsors. Advertisements for our sponsors will appear throughout the newsletters and on our cars at each round of the championship. The committee would like to thank the following businesses:
