The Hindu Solar month of "Mithuna" (June 14 - July 15) is very special in the history of our temple. It is in this month that many important milestones were reached like the Baalaalaya Prathishta, Bhoomi Puja, Prathistapana Kumbhabhishekams for the main Deities and more recently the Rajagopura and Jeernodhaarana Kumbhabhishekams. Hence in keeping with the past practice the temple will be celebrating the Samvatsara Mahotsavam (Annual Temple Festival similar to annual birthday celebration for humans). To compensate for the acts of omissions and commissions during the year and to rejuvinate the spirit of devotion and service in the minds of devotees such festivals are conducted in temples annually. During this annual eleven-day festival there will be special Pujas to every Deity including special Homams, Abhishekams and Kalyana Utsavams. Devotees are requested to participate in these Pujas, especially in the Pujas to their favorite Deity (Ishta Devata) in large numbers, extend their generous physical, financial and moral support as they have done in the past and make this festival a grand success. Details on Page 3.

Samvatsara Mahotsavam Varalakshmi Vratam Friday June 24 - Monday July 4, 2005

Friday August 12, 2005

Varalakshmi Vratam is Lakshmi Puja done by married ladies in their homes for bringing wealth and prosperity to their family. This Vratam to Goddess Mahalakshmi is observed on the Friday before the full moon day in the month of Sraavana. Material necessary for the Puja will be provided by the temple. Devotees may however bring the Lakshmi Mukham (that is traditionally handed down in the family) flowers, fruits, Red or Yellow Cloth, Paan Supari (Betel leaves and nuts) and a prepared Prasadam if they so desire. Bhagawati Seva During Kataka Month

Saturday July 16 to Monday August 15, 2005

Dakshinayana marks the southern transition of sun for a period of six months. These six months are the night time for the Gods and Goddesses. The first of these six Hindu months is especially important for the worship of Devi (the Universal Mother). Bhagawati Seva, which is worship of the Devi in the Kerala Tantric tradition, will be performed daily from July 16 through August 15 at 7:30 PM. All devotees are encouraged to participate by way of Lalitha Sahasranama recitation, Devi Stotram and Devi Namaskaaram. Details on Page 3.

Sraavan Somavaar

Mondays August 8 - August 29, 2005

The Hindu Lunar month of "Sraavan" is considered very auspicious for religious observances. The Mondays during this month is very special for Lord Siva. Devotees of Siva observe fast that day and offer their prayers to Him. Lord Siva is very easily pleased by the Abhishekams offered by His devotees. Abhishekam to the chanting of Rudram, Trishati Archana (Offering Bilwa Patra and flowers while chanting the 300 names of the Lord), reciting Siva Stotras and the Jaya Jagadeesha Hare Aarati are some of the highlights of the Puja that will beperformed every Monday during the Sraavan month.Details on Page 3.
