The three major metropolitan areas include Tokyo-area (Saitama-ken, Chiba-ken, Tokyo-to and Kanagawa-ken), Nagoya-area (Gifu-ken, Aichi-ken and Mie-ken) and Osaka-area (Kyoto-fu, Osaka-fu, Hyogo-ken and Nara-ken), Other areas refer to the region except the three major metropolitan areas.
