The New Jersey Department of the Treasury Division of Taxation is recruiting for

Auditor Trainees

Field Auditors conduct tax compliance audits of New Jersey businesses and corporations, which are normally conducted at the taxpayer's place of business. Office Auditors conduct tax compliance audits of businesses and various other individual taxes in an office environment. Trainees are assigned various auditing assignments of increasing complexity throughout their 12 month training period. Upon successful completion of training and demonstration of auditing proficiency, employees are eligible for advancement to the journeyman title of Auditor 3, Taxation. Field Audit positions are located throughout the State and office positions are located in Trenton.

Starting Salary Office: $46K Field: $48K

6 Month Increase Office: $49K Field: $51K

After 1 year Office: $52K Field: $54K

Minimum Requirements: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree, including or supplemented by 21 credits in Accounting. Note: Possession of a valid Certificate as a Certified Public Accountant or Registration as a Public Accountant issued by the NJ State Board of Accountancy may be substituted for the required degree in Accounting. Degrees obtained outside of the United States must be evaluated. A listing of evaluation services is provided at http://www.state.nj.us/csc/jobs/step2.htm. Additional Requirements: Must have authorization to work in the United States. Employment is subject to successful completion of a background investigation. A valid NJ driver's license and reliable transportation may be necessary for field positions.
