"Now is the Acceptable Time..." (2 Cor 5:2)

The end of the campaign for the new church is in sight. First I want to continue to give thanks for the many who have been so very generous to this project, both in prayer, effort, time and financial resources. Because of you the goal is in sight! There remain many, however, who have not been reached personally by a fellow parishioner and asked for their support. If that is you, please take this note as a special request from me as your pastor to do what you can to move us closer to the goal. Gifts add up quickly: just think, 200 more gifts at $3000 each (only $12.50/wk, $50/mo) nets $600, 000 this is well within the realm of possibility. But we need to hear from you! Last weekend the Bishop in his keynote address for the 25th Anniversary invited us to:

1) think BIG; 2) lose our fears; 3) accept change; 4) give all to Christ; and 5) "stir into flame" the Spirit! (2 Tim. 1:6)

I see this exhortation from him as a blueprint for our own future as a parish. Join us in this great crusade for the Lord! To expedite your response, which I know will be prayerful, thoughtful and generous, you may: · · · Come into the parish office any day during office hours (8:30am-4:30pm) and confidentially complete your pledge card, or We can send an emissary out to you personally through a phone call to us (746-2508). You can come to Kilpatrick Hall before and after all the Masses June 18-19 and June 25-26.

Although the drive will not end until we have completed the goal, our full-time campaign counsel will cease at the end of this month, and we will be on our own. There will be follow-up, I am sure, but I am hopeful that will be only a "clean sweep" following the successful attainment of our basic goal. I want my time to be spent on service to you the People of God in pastoral work rather than "fund-raising," so please, act on God's counsel to you and support this great work for the future of the Catholic Church we love!

Father's Day

We offer deepest thanks today not only for the fullness of God in the Holy Trinity but also by analogy for the earthly examples of fatherhood that we ourselves have enjoyed from so many of our own dads, granddads, older mentors, and the like. May the Lord renew all those who have taken on this sacred trust first in their own families and then for others who need excellent male role models of strength, courage, integrity, encouragement, compassion and self-sacrifice. Fr Pike

Deacon Dialogue

Notes on upcoming Trinity Sunday Readings:

W should, from time to time, STOP and smell the roses so to speak. To relax and loosen up our "stiff-neck". Be in the right frame of mind to see, hear, or feel the Holy Spirit acting within and around us. As Bishop observed last Saturday a surprise can bring a positive change to our own spirit if we are simply open to receive such gifts. I am sure our dads could tell many a story about the surprises their children brought to their lives...and the resultant positive affect that coursed through the fabric of their family. May your Father's Day be filled with blessings. And the wonderful majesty of a God for all: a God in three persons. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. At any time in our life no matter our situation we can still relate to one of these persons. A caring, nurturing Father. The Son with so much love he became a creature like one of us, our brother and Lord. And the Holy Spirit, overflowing and present in and around us until the end of time. Perhaps even more than the relationship of the Hebrews of Moses' time with God as all powerful Father, WE ARE TRULY A BLESSED PEOPLE! --Deacon Larry Mills
