BOGO:

Buy One, Get One

Help others in need new ministry to help feed those in need. We ask that families take advantage of the BOGO (buy one get one) offers at the local supermarkets, and donate the second item to St Louis. They can be dropped off in the bins located in the narthex of the church. We will then collect them and store them for others that come to the church office in need of food. What a great way to help our neighbors and set an example to those around us to do the same! We can also collect the perishable items that are offered; all we ask for those items is that arrangements be made in advance by contacting Kevin Haussmann 305.968.9500 or Mark Witkowski 305.238.7562 ext.303. Come join the St Louis BOGO ministry - "Buy one give one."

Abba Parish Spiritual Renewal Mission

Monday, April 4 * Tuesday, April 5 * Wednesday, April 6

FATHER DAVID RUSSELL is a magnificent Preacher of God's Word. Fr. Russell was the Founding Pastor of St. Maurice Parish, in Hollywood, Fl. In the fall of 1974, he was transferred to St. Louis Parish as Pastor. Fr. Russell's wonderful attitude, advance planning and vision were a touch of Amazing Grace for the St. Louis Community. He was the first Pastor to bring Catholic Stewardship to Southeastern Florida. After a short while, planning was begun on the building of our present Church Building. By the Grace of God, St. Louis Parish membership expanded greatly over the years. Eventually the Archbishop asked Fr. Russell to move to Pastor of St. John Neumann Parish in West Kendall. And, again with the power of the Holy Spirit, he literally duplicated what we accomplished at St. Louis. He will bring a smile to your face and a renewed Spirit to your Soul. He is retired now and currently Celebrates Masses on weekends at St. Patrick Church, Miami Beach. You will be blessed by his presence. MYRNA GALLAGHER joined Abba Missions & Trinity Stewardship Ministries, on retirement as DRE of St. John Neumann Parish. Myrna actually was part of the formation of St. Maurice Parish with Fr. Russell, and took the position of DRE here at St. Louis Parish when Fr. Russell was transferred here in 1974. Here she formulated and started our beloved Emmaus Retreats. St. Louis Parish, through Myrna's dedication, is renowned for the birthplace of all the Emmaus Retreats around the world. Myrna then moved to St. John Neumann to assist Fr. Russell building the wonderful community that they have there. She has two University Masters Degrees. Myrna is a compassionate and loving woman. To meet and speak with her is like talking to an Angel. You will be enthralled by her presentation; she exudes the Lord, and Our Beloved Blessed Mother. SUSAN DEFERRARI is a parishioner and Administrator of MorningStar Renewal Center will be the Abba Mission Coordinator for the Mission; another wonderful woman of the Lord. Our Abba Mission Music Minister will be GREG SENDLER, Music Minister of St. John Neumann Parish. Greg and his wife Lola are just marvelous as a team. The Music and song is just Blessed and fantastic. Everywhere we go, they are a powerful part of our Praying in Song.

Mission Schedule

Monday, April 4, 7:30 PM

Myrna Gallagher will be speaking on Suffering and Forgiveness. She has a powerful presentation. Her love of the Lord and her Spiritual gifts is what makes her the magnificent women she is.

Sign Up for Adoration Spending an hour a week in front of the Blessed Sacrament is a wonderful way to both deepen your personal relationship with the Lord and support our parish community.

Thank You from Christians of the Holy Land

I am very pleased that many of you took the time to come to meet me after Mass. Your community and clergy made me feel so very welcomed and appreciated. Many parishioners thanked me for the presentation. Your kindness to this cause is very humbling. I know if enough of us become aware of this issue, a solution will be at hand quickly. This is the part that hurts, because the more I travel and speak, the lonelier I feel. I appreciate that many of you purchased the olive wood religious articles that were available; I thank you. Many Christian Palestinian carvers will soon be hard at work to replenish what you purchased and more. This in turn creates a virtuous cycle of simple commerce, all because you chose to buy something. Thanks! Now that you know we exist, and you realize our natural role in the family of Christ, please do pray, and ask others to pray as well. Please take a moment and drop me a note at our website. Reading your comments is a big boost for me to push forward, and learn, as I seek to become an effective instrument of Christ's work. Peace, Rami Qumsieh www.HolyLandDirect.com

Midnight Musings Pensamientos de Media Noche

Rehab for Everyone The "stars" give "rehab" big name attention. Liz Taylor and Betty Ford in the past, or Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan in today's news. Rehab is short for rehabilitation. The word comes from Latin roots meaning to make livable. Rehab programs aim to help people return to their lives, families, and work; rehab means to make their lives livable again. Bad habits need to be corrected. New styles of living need to be learned. Lent is Rehab for the whole Church. We address our sinfulness. We strive to grow in holiness. Christian living becomes more "livable." We are half way through Lent. On Ash Wednesday we heard the call to prayer, fasting and works of mercy, the basic tools of our Christian rehabilitation. We concentrate on those three practices during Lent, but in fact they represent year round virtues. Fasting is always good for the soul and even helps the body. Prayer maintains our connection with God and deepens the relationship. Works of mercy represent the goodness of God overflowing from our lives and through our lives for the sake of others. We focus on these three during Lent, but they represent dimension of our Christian living all year long. Whatever we have or have not done in Lent so far, we still have three weeks to go until Easter. It is never too late to work at rehabilitating our Christian lives, making ourselves more livable as sons and daughters of the Father. Jesus is the image we strive for; we try to become more like him at Easter. Take advantage of the programs our parish offers. Don't miss the Parish Mission this week. Father Russell and Myrna Gallagher will lift us up and encourage us to grow. Their powerful words reflect their deeply felt and lived Christian convictions. With the sacraments of confession and anointing of the sick during the Mission, people can open themselves to the healing and rehabilitating power of Christ. Tuesday, April 5, we will have our own parish priests and visiting priests hearing confessions at the Mission. On Reconciliation Weekend, April 15-16, we will have confession available Friday evening 7 to 9 PM, and Saturday, 9 AM to 4:30 PM. So many opportunities await us. Don't miss all offerings of God's grace and love to transform and rehabilitate our Christian lives. Regarding confession, remember that we will NOT have scheduled confessions during Holy Week including Holy Saturday, day before Easter.
