SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER

ASCENSION THURSDAY- HOLY DAY OF OBLIGATION Thursday, May 9th is the Feast of the Ascension of our Lord, a holy day of obligation. Masses will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 8th (Vigil) at 5.15 PM and on Thursday at 8.00 AM, 12.10 PM and 5.15 PM. CHOIR INVESTITURE 2013- TODAY At 3:00PM on Sunday May 5th, the annual Choir Investiture will take place at Solemn Vespers. This marks the official reception of each probationer boy into the Trebles of St. Paul's, which is our junior training choir. Boys in grade 4 (and 5 this year) will be invested with surplices blessed to liturgical use. The parents of each boy place the blessed surplice over the boy's head for the first time, and their place at the Choir School is made official and permanent. Boys being Invested have all satisfied the requirements of the academic and musical staff of the Choir School. Please attend this beautiful Vespers to support this unique Choir of boys and men, the product of our very own St. Paul's Choir School. ST. PAUL'S CHOIR SCHOOL 50th ANNIVERSARY CONCERT St. Paul's Choir School 50th Anniversary Spring Concert will take place at 3:00PM on Sunday May 19th, Pentecost Sunday. The Choir of St. Paul's will celebrate this anniversary by singing great choral works from the history of the Church, including music by Taverner, Tallis, Bruckner, and Vaughan Williams. Tickets are available from the Choir School by `phone (617 868 8658) and by email [email protected] Tickets will also be available on the door. FIRST HOLY COMMUNION On Saturday, May 11th, nine children from the St. Paul religious education program will be receiving their First Holy Communion at the 5PM Mass. Please join them in celebrating this joyous occasion. GOLDEN TICKET RAFFLE The Boston Archdiocesan Choir School is having a 50th Anniversary Golden Ticket Raffle. One prize of $5,000 will be drawn at the Gala on June 1st. Ticket price - $100.00. Why not go in on it with friends? PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL ELECTION, MAY 18th & 19th The St. Paul Parish Pastoral Council Election will be held on May 18th & 19th. Ballots will be available at the back of the church at all the masses that weekend. The Council is seeking candidates for four seats that will be opening up. The terms of office run for three years, 2013-2016. SAINT PAUL'S CHOIR SCHOOL, HARVARD SQUARE St. Paul's Choir School, Harvard Square, provides an advanced academic and musically challenging education via a working scholarship for boys in grades 4 through 8. The Annual Boston Archdiocesan Choir School Gala, the school's primary fund raising event, will be held on Saturday, June, 1, beginning at 6:00 pm at the Boston Cambridge Marriott Hotel, Kendal Square. All proceeds benefit the Choir School. The evening includes live and silent Auctions, performances by the Choir and "Sponsor a Choirboy". We will be honoring Fr. Robert Reed from Boston Catholic TV. OFFERTORY REPORT St. Paul's cumulative offertory for July 1, 2012 through May 1, 2013 (44 weeks) was $417,908.32 (*includes lump sum pledge payments of $149,006.72). The cumulative offertory for July 1, 2011 through May 1, 2012 (44 weeks) was $453,875.88 (includes lump sum pledge payments of $ 128,774.13). The financial report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2012, was mailed to all parishioners in December. If you have questions about Saint Paul's finances, please ask Father Drea or any of the members of the Finance Committee. The members are, Jim Perrine (chair), Joe Barrell, Dave Dankens, Sharon Gallagher, Dave Hannon, and Ted Monahan. Their contact information can be obtained from the parish office. BACCALAUREATE MASS­ Sunday, May 19th, 11 AM Graduating Harvard students and their families are invited to a baccalaureate Mass, Sunday, May 19th at 11am in the upper church. Graduates, alumni, and faculty are invited to meet in the HCC Library at 10:30 for the entrance procession. Academic regalia/caps and gowns may be donned, but are not required. This is a joyous way to celebrate and offer thanksgiving for your time at Harvard. LOST AND FOUND If you have left personal items in the church or in the parish center, please contact the parish office during the week. While every effort is made to retrieve items left behind by our parishioners and visitors, forgotten articles are often not turned over to staff and cannot be found. Any items turned in for lost and found and unclaimed after thirty days will be donated to St. Vincent DePaul or another charity as appropriate. ST. PAUL FOOD PANTRY ­ VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Each week, the St. Paul Food Pantry serves up to ninety individuals and families. We are in desperate need of volunteers (1) to pick up produce from the Fair Foods outlet in Dorchester each Saturday morning and deliver it to St. Paul's; (2) to pick up bread, generously donated by Whole Foods at Fresh Pond in Cambridge, on Friday night and deliver it to St. Paul's on Saturday morning; and (3) to serve at the Pantry on Saturday mornings. Please contact Molly at [email protected] PRAY FOR POPE FRANCIS! Special prayer cards to mark the election of our new Holy Father, Pope Francis, are available at the exits of the church. Please take one home and in your charity offer the prayer for the Holy Father that God may bless him in his ministry. BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP Visiting Nurse and Community Health offers a weekly support group for those grieving a death. Meetings are every Sunday, Today- June 2, from 2-3:30PM.
