Strategic Asset Management Launches New Mutual Fund Focused on Latin America

La Paz, Bolivia (May 3, 2010) Strategic Asset Management today launched a new mutual fund for investors in the United States. The Strategic Latin America Fund (SLATX) invests a minimum of 80% of its assets in companies and issuers across Latin America. The region encompasses countries generally considered developing and emerging countries in South America and Central America (including Mexico).

"Latin America offers opportunities to invest in vibrant and growing economies. It is one of the fastest growing markets in the world," said Heiner Skaliks, portfolio manager for the fund. "Our investment team has longstanding relationships with country, industry and strategic experts in local markets across the region that provide us with valuable `on-the-ground' information." Skaliks earned a BA and MBA from the University of Notre Dame and an MPA with a concentration in macroeconomics and financial markets from the Kennedy School at Harvard University. Before joining Strategic Asset Management, he was the chief executive officer and portfolio manager of a leading Bolivian mutual fund, broker-dealer and boutique investment bank. He has also served as a member of the board of directors of the Bolivian Securities Exchange.

"The political landscape in Latin America has improved dramatically over the past decades," said Darko Zuazo, a member of the investment committee. "In addition, we have an abundance of natural resources, qualified labor across sectors and access to cutting-edge manufacturing processes." The six members of the investment committee have combined financial industry experience of more than 100 years.

The fund is one of the first mutual funds to focus on Latin America and be managed by an advisor based in the region. It will invest in equities, fixed income securities, currencies and other asset classes as appropriate.
