County & City Enterprise Boards are pleased to host the National Final for the Student Enterprise Awards 2010.

On behalf of the Network of County and City Enterprise Boards, I would like to welcome you all to our eighth National Student Enterprise Awards Final. Today culminates many months of hard work, fun and hopefully profits! Those of you who are here today representing your county have already achieved significant recognition and have been nominated as a result of a vigorous judging process. I wish you all an enjoyable day. The teachers and parents, who have supported the students, deserve special mention, without this commitment and support this competition could not take place and we would like to thank you for all your efforts. Entrepreneurship is the future lifeblood of the Irish economy and today's students are tomorrow's business leaders. This competition takes the first steps in introducing entrepreneurship to young people. It shows the results that flow and how a profitable business emerges when you combine the right idea with creativity, hard work and commitment. I would urge you to follow up on your efforts, look at creating a business as a viable career choice, and don't forget your Enterprise Board will be there to support you on your journey!!

Michael Tunney

Chairman Network of County & City Enterprise Boards

SEÁN LEMASS ENTERPRISE AWARDS The Government announced the Seán Lemass Enterprise Awards in 2009 to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the appointment of Seán Lemass as Taoiseach. The Commemorative Awards will be presented for the first time in 2010 to the top three senior projects selected at the Student Enterprise Awards and three projects selected from the Get Up and Go programme. The awards will be presented by An Taoiseach, Brian Cowen at an awards ceremony in Dublin on 13 May 2010. Speaking about the awards The Taoiseach, Brian Cowan, T.D. said: "It is fitting that the name of Seán Lemass, who did so much to develop Ireland as an open, enterprising and modern economy, should now be associated with promoting entrepreneurial skills among students who represent our next generation of ingenuity and talent. His example should act as an encouragement to all students to consider careers in enterprise."

The Awards are supported by The Network of County & City Enterprise Boards and The Second Level Support Service.
