"We Care" Campaign Results for Carlsbad

CONGRATULATIONS Fox & Lake! and CONGRATULATIONS to God's Family in Carlsbad! The Fox & Lake church just completed their "We Care" Campaign, and they have reported outstanding news and lots of opportunities for all of the Christians in Carlsbad. This campaign resulted in 81 people obeying the Gospel, and being baptized into Christ! We are all ecstatic and filled with joy that these folks have been added to God's Family here in Carlsbad. The "We Care" Team reported that they were only able to "scratch the surface" in making calls on the folks of Carlsbad during the Campaign. It was also reported that Carlsbad beat all of the statistics with regard to responsiveness to study the Bible, and with responses to the Gospel. They reported that the people of Carlsbad are much more likely to agree to study the Bible than in other cities, and of those that agree to the study are more likely to obey the Gospel than people in other cities. There is a still a lot of work to be done in contacting the people of Carlsbad with the good news of the Gospel of Jesus! A major part of keeping these new Christians is to do the follow up studies with these babes, help them to become a part of the family, and to get them involved "plugged in" to the activities of the church. One of the sad statistics that is reported by the "We Care" team is that statistically we will lose 75% of those baptized that do not receive the follow up training and involvement. Our brothers and sisters at Fox & Lake have taken this statistic very seriously, and are trying to line up the people that can conduct this follow up work. OPPORTUNITIES: The Fox & Lake church has contacted the elders here at Sunset to find out if our folks will help them with a number of activities, including: Providing formal training and lessons for groups of up to 16; Providing or assisting with one-on-one studies; Providing transportation, and; Social visits to these new Christians. The elders are looking for a couple of volunteers to coordinate with the Fox & Lake follow up coordinator. We are looking for at least one man and one woman to find volunteers for the various activities, and coordinate with Fox & Lake to make sure that needed follow up is addressed from the Christians throughout Carlsbad. If you are willing to Coordinate these activities, please contact one of the elders. If you are willing to volunteer to take on any of these actions, please contact the office, until we can establish the coordinators, and get that information out to the Congregation.

In Jesus, Pete Keegan

Dearest Family, How beautiful are the hands who served us as we said our earthly goodbye to our mother and grandmother, Juanita Judkins. My family and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your cards, the memorials in Mom's memory, those who could come to tell her goodbye, for Mike's beautiful service and for the incredible meal. What a blessing you have all been. Thank you, ladies, for preparing such a wonderful meal. It was such a beautiful example of your love and concern for Mother's family. You know her heart was always with the Sunset family even though her body was with me in Roswell. She loved you all so much and loved getting the bulletin every week. She always commented "Those are the sweetest people on earth and work so hard for the Lord." Thank you all for showing your love to her by serving and loving her family. If Mother could speak right now, she would say, "I love you now, forever, and into eternity." Love, Linda Foster

As you know Dick Kelly passed away recently. Please remember to keep Wilma in your prayers. A visit to her and/or to take her a plate of food or small casserole would be greatly appreciated. Please extend your condolences to Tyson Frintz on the passing of his grandmother, Lillie Eisert.

Thank you's continued: Dear Church Family, Thank you so much for the plants and prayers that you gave during this difficult time of my Dad's passing. Leonor Villa

I wish to express my thanks and appreciation for the visits, cards, and phone calls during my recent hospitalization. I am still doing some recovery and have been told recovery might take some time. Again-thank you so much. I n Christ, D ick Craig
