Our District is very fortunate to have the support of a charitable foundation that works hard every day to raise funds to support some of our most important programs and increase community awareness of the signi cant nancial needs of the District. The Scottsdale Uni ed School District Foundation functions exclusively to support our schools. The Foundation believes that teachers are great investments in the future success of children. In addition to providing funds for teachers who are working toward National Board Certi cation, it provides "mini-grants" of up to $2500 to SUSD's best and brightest teachers who have creative and thoughtful ideas for engaging and educating students. More than 100 grants have been awarded, and students at every school have bene ted from them. Over the last three years, the SUSD Foundation has provided more than $205,000 in critical support for students and teachers. The City of Scottsdale and the Scottsdale Uni ed School District (SUSD) work collaboratively to deliver the very best to those who have chosen Scottsdale as their place to "Live, Learn, Work and Play." SUSD helps attract people to the city, because it provides an outstanding public education. The Scottsdale Uni ed School District (SUSD) was founded in 1896 by Major Win eld Scott, also the founder of the City of Scottsdale. For the last 115 years, SUSD has done an exceptional job of educating young people despite constrained budgets and economic downturns, such as the one we currently face. Public education is the unsung hero of this great community.
