Assembly Unpacking the Unit

Before you unpack the unit, please make sure you have the following: · · The display screen onto which you are going to mount the Glass Touch Panel. The computer that runs your software application, including the cable that connects the computer to the display screen.

Inside you should find the following components: · · · · · · 1 - Glass Touch Panel 1 - Twisted pair wire with female connectors on both ends 2 - Flat sensor cables 1 - Lumio Main PCB 1 - USB Cable 1 CrystalTouch Manager CD

Affixed to the Glass Touch Panel you will find two sensors, one in each corner, as well as plastic light sources along the perimeter of the glass. Take care not to move or damage these. The PCB is responsible for processing the optical information and sending it to the PC via the USB cable. The CD contains the CrystalTouch Manager configuration software.

Assembling the Unit

The PCB needs to be connected to both the sensors and the light source. Connecting the sensors

Open the roll of flex cables

At the back of the sensor is a connector, with a latch that slides back and forth. Slide it back to open. Insert the flat cable to the connector with the blue stiffening facing up. Make sure to insert the flat cable as deep as possible and straight. When done, slide the latch of the connector to lock the cable in place.

When done, sensor with connected flat cable should look like this. (Note that no blue can be seen). Repeat this procedure for the other sensor as well.

Now we will connect the other sides of the flat cables to the main PCB. As shown in the picture above, the flat cable from the upper right-corner or the glass should go to connector J34 (the connector next to the USB connector) and the flat cable from the upper left corner of the glass should go to connector J35. On the connector is a latch that slides back and forth. Slide it back to open. Insert the flat cable to the connector with the blue stiffening facing up. Make sure to insert the flat cable as deep as possible and straight. When done, slide the latch of the connector to lock the flat cable in place. Repeat process for both cables.

Launching the CrystalTouch Manager

Before launching the CrystalTouch Manager, please connect the free end of the USB cable to the computer; you should hear the Main PCB emit a beep. Locate and click on the Lumio icon ( Launch Bar. ) under Start->Programs or on the Desktop/

The CrystalTouch Main menu is divided into two main menus. User Various basic settings typically set by users to customize your system. Calibration Full Calibration to best synchronize between your Crystal Touch and screen. Specially authorized personnel, may press the Login button to enter their password to access advanced features. User Menu Under the User Menu, select View Peaks.

View Peaks Use your finger, place it on the glass, and trace a rectangle along the entire inner perimeter of the Glass Touch Panel alongside the plastic holders. You should see at ALL times a red AND green slope with valid readings above BOTH as seen in the figure on the left.

If all is well, you are now ready to mount the Glass Touch Panel inside your monitor.

Mounting the Glass Touch Panel inside your monitor The glass is now ready to be mounted inside your monitor to complete the assembly. Before starting you should plan for the following things: · How to position the Glass Touch Panel · How best to position the Main PCB , providing access to the USB connector from the outside, but protecting the sensor and light source cables which are connected from inside the monitor. You may find it easier to detach the sensor and light source cables from the Glass Touch Panel or the Main PCB. If so, do so now. Glass Touch Panel Placement and Gluing You should position the glass in such a way that the light source, which is along the CrystalTouch perimeter, is just outside your screen's active area. If you have extra space, best if the sensors at the top are set as far up and back as possible. Before placing the glass, make sure that both the glass and the screen below it are absolutely clean of dust, finger-prints, lint etc., as we will be gluing them and any dirt caught in-between. After having locating correct position for Glass Touch Panel, cut strips of double-sided tape (proposed tape is 3M 4956 VHB Double-sided Acrylic Foam Tape 1 Inch width) to match the entire perimeter of the glass, and apply to your monitor's frame. Remove adhesive backside, and place glass, firmly. Rubber Soles or Gaskets The Glass Touch Panel has on it optical components that should not be touched by the inside of your monitor when being closed. The height of all the elements is 4.3 mm. We suggest that you use some form of rubber soles or gasket that may sit on the glass ledge found between the edge of the glass and the plastic holder. Spacers When closing your monitor, you may need spacers for any gaps that have opened, to be used for the bolts/screw holes closing your monitor. Mounting the Main PCB Having found an appropriate location to mount the Main PCB, pass the sensor and light source cables through and mount the Main PCB using the provided screw holes.

Calibrating the CrystalTouch

After closing the monitor, please connect the free end of the USB cable to the computer; you should hear the Main PCB emit a beep. Your CrystalTouch is now ready and working. Though the CrystalTouch should work correctly out-of-the-box, it could be that slight offsets and/or misalignments when mounting, between it and your screen may cause offsets. This can easily be resolved by performing either the Quick or Full Calibration.

Aspect Ratio Before performing a Full Calibration, ensure that the Aspect Ratio displayed matches that of your screen.

Aspect Ratio If Aspect Ration is incorrect, press the Aspect Ratio button to enter the aspect ratio of your screen.

Full Calibration About 20 crosses are displayed upon the screen. The program prompts the user where to carefully place your finger in the center of the target; until the target turns green. Care should be taken not to touch other parts of the screen while performing the calibration. At the end of the procedure, the calibrated data, is automatically programmed into the PCB.

Exit the CrystalTouch Manager. Your screen should work fine now.
